Scugog wants $5000 fine for zoning violation Scugog Township will ask for a $5,000 fine against a man convicted Monday morning of breaking the zoning by-law. Doug Wilson was found guilty in Whitby court of constructing an apartment in an old barn on property he owns on the west side of Simcoe Street, several miles south of Port Perry. Mr. Wilson of Oshawa, a former Oshawa city and regional councillor will be back in court October 17 when Judge Brenda Brown will decided the amount of the fine. Township by-law enforcement officer Bill Henshall said Mr. Wilson was charged with illegal use of an accessory building for human habitation. The apartment is being rented and occupied at this time, he said. Mr. Wilson and members of his family have appeared numerous times in front of Scugog council over the last several years in their efforts to get approval for a subdivision on land surrounding the old barn. Their proposals have been rejected by council.
