Gators vs. League stars in benefit for Wayne Allan The Toronto Gators will take on the Oshawa City and District League All Stars in a benefit fastball game September 6 at Durham Fields. Proceeds will go to League president Wayne Allan who was seriously injured in a car accident July 14. Wayne has made a tr dous hitting third baseman Larry Pilkey will represent Antrim House Eagles, and pitcher Jeff Card is the rep from the all Ontario champion Port Perry Juveniles. Wayne's wife Gaye will be presented with the proceeds for the conclusion of this nine inning game. This is a great chance to see the fabulous Toronto Gators in action against the best fastball players in Durham Region. After losing the first game of the tournament to the Midget Angels from Scugog, the Intermediates had to come back the tough way to advance to the finals. The Angels and Oshawa battled it out for ten innings before the International tie- breaker rule was brought into force and Oshawa was able to send four big runs across the plate. The final score in this one was 6-2. Cheryl Vaughan won tournament MVP for the Angels. The Angels lost 6-5 to the Midgets, came back with a 19-4 win over the Oshawa Junior Two team, then blanked the Scugog Angels 2-0 before handing Cobourg a 5-1 defeat to advance to the championship. Angels will take a couple of days off before resuming practice this week in preparation for their trip to Moncton, NB where they will defend their Eastern Canada Ladies Fastball title.
