Softball annual meeting Ancther very successful year is drawing to a close for Port Perry Minor Softball. There were abqut 450 young people playing with Port Perry & District Minor Softball, with 4 T- ball teams; 10 7-8 Mite teams; 10 9-10 Mite teams, 5 Youth Girls teams; 4 Youth Boys teams and 6 Youth Lob Ball teams There were also "rep" teams in the Mites, Squirts, PeeWee Bantam Boys, Bantam Girls and Juveniles. Port Perry was put on the map ye again by our talented Juvenile team who won the All- Ontario Juvenile title. This was the third such All-Ontariq title for most of these young men in NHL Old Timers come to Manvers The Toronto NHL Old Timers are coming to the Manvers Arena on October 1 to take on the Manvers Pineridge Video Old Timers in an exhibition game. This is being billed as a great night for family fun as there will be ample chance for photos and autographs. And of course, all proceeds from this game will go to a very worthy cause: The Five Counties Childrens Foundation Tickets for the game are $7 each, but because there are limited numbers, anyone thinking of taking in this game should purchase tickets as soon as possible. They are on sale now at the Five Counties Childrens Centre Foundation (872 Dutton Road, Peterborough, or from any member of the Pineridge Video Old Timers team. For information call 705-328-5200 in Lindsay. Game time October 1 is 7:00 PM and this will be a wonderful chance for the young hockey players to see the stars of the NHL from yesteryear. Manvers Arena is located at the corner of Highways 35 & 7A. as many years. Needless to say there are many people who have volunteered their time to be convenors, and coaches as well as our wonderful Sponsors. However, there are countless hours of "behind the scenes" work that must be done in order to keep our association running effectively Sadly, that is where we are lacking manpower. Staying on top of every aspect of running successful programs is a huge job for a handful of people. If you are interested in helping out with Port Perry Minor Softball Executive please plan to attend our upcoming General Meeting. No experience is necessary - just a willingness to pitch in and help The Annual General Meeting is at 7:00 pm at the Latcham Centre on October 5, 1994 For further information please call Allynne Jones at 985-9860. Re/Max boys win soccer title in super season Re/Max U-15 boys wrapped up league play in convincing style as they went undefeated through the season, winning the league championship. Advancing with a bye into the semi-finals it was "Matt's the Man" Brown who led the way with a 3 goal performance as Port defeated Whitby Optimist 3-0. Adam Jones was solid in net earning himself the shutout. The following day we met Whitby Kinsmen for the playoff finals and it was Matt again who supplied the scoring punch, netting 2 goals. Adam Hobbs scored the single as Port claimed the playoff championship with another 3-0 victory. It was a solid team effort with all the forwards having good scoring opportunities. The defense {Chris Murphy, Colin Mark and Wyatt Park) were especially strong, settipf up a brick wall that would not allow the ball out of the Whitby end in the second half. All in all the team had an excellent year losing only 1 game in league playoff or tournament play, and out scored the opposition 126 to 24. The team would like to thank Roy Cowling for all his time and effort in arranging our league and tournament play. PSront STATS!
