While he said new regulations will "not take away hunting rifles," he suggested one option the government is looking at is a national registry, something gun owners do not want. "Registration does not mean confiscation," he said, his voice straining over the loud chorus of boos and catcalls. He said a registration must be affordable and reliable with no undue cost to gun owners. Durham MP Alex Shepherd told the Citizen that day he is not convinced a registration of firearms or a ban on handguns is the answer to lowering the violent crime rate in the country. He said he and other MPs in the Liberal caucus who feel the same way will continue to voice their concerns. Asked whether inconvenience. Fresh Chicken Wings Save $1.00 Ib. Limit 10 Ibs. 99¢. Animals as art prowl the Gallery at Scugog Library Prowling into the Kent Farndale Gallery at Scugog Memorial Library, Port Perry, come amazing animals which might be adopted by you to live in your garden or even (because they are so well trained) in your parlor. As pets their dietary needs are small for their bodies are high-tech steel wire or aluminum painted by artist Sue Parke in a technique she terms "urban folk". Sue Parke's jewellery may be familiar to you from her work and shows in Haliburton, Toronto and Montreal. She is also a talented sculptor in a number of media. This is an adventurous lady. She has been a juror for the Haliburton Guild of Fine Arts, the Metal Arts Guild and the Ontario Arts Council. Sue taught jewellery finishing techniques at the Haliburton School of Fine Arts and Jewellery Making for the North York Board of Education. An extraordinary metal artist, Sue is well known and respetted in the craft world. She has a whimsical touch and her sense of humour always shows through in her pieces. She also has a practical side. Some of her lawn ornaments double as sprinklers. Kent Farndale is a patron who tells us that the Parke sculptures which she and Doug have collected in their garden are a daily source of joy and that she greatly enjoys wearing her Sue Parke jewellery. Sue Parke has headlined many art shows in the past decade and we at the Gallery are very pleased to bring her exciting work to Durham. You are invited to coffee at the Gallery from 1 to 4 pm on Saturday, October lst at Scugog Memorial Public Library, 231 Water Street, Port Perfy, to meet artist Sue Parke and enjoy her works.
