Numerous penalties this week also indicated that pride is on the line, as the annual "Race to the Top" enters the second month of League play Game 1 saw the Compton Comets gain their first victory of the season over the Taylor Aces who have yet to find the win column this season. Dave Dickson had 3 assists while Mike McQuade and Edwards notched a pair and singles went to Barnes, Bill Weisflock and Péul Goreski For the hapless Aces it was team rep Ken Little and team sponsor Wayne Taylor with counters. Despite playing short-handed during the second and third periods, the Clippers controlled the game and had 2 goals from Larry Pilkey and singles from Doug Bronson and Derek Fitzgerald. Al Sibbald had a pair of assists with singles going to Bill "Roc" Owen and team sponsor, Carl Fitzgerald The only " reply for the Gamblers came late in the final period as Ken Jeffrey scored from Carl Durham and Bryan Norton'to spoil Bjlly Eade's > shutout bid in the Clipper Cage! Game 4 was billed last week as the "Game of the Day" as the Pineridge Phantoms and the Harrison Blazers took to the ice to settle the first place issue. As expected, the action was hot along with the tempers, and the referees earned their money keeping the game under control! When the final buzzer sounded and the penalties were all served, it was the Blazers earning a 3-2 victory over the Pineridge "Sports Shop" crew! Once again, Darcy Milligan, led the way for the Blazers with a 2 goal performance. Dale Bronson had the single to give each of the Bronson boys goals this week!
