The twenty-nine year old is currently involved as a training co-ordinator in China, teaching English to Chinese adults who are learning skills enabling them to get employment with Western ng up law degree at Osgoode Hall. Soon after she was employed for a year and a half with a law firm in London before returning to York to get her Masters Companies such as Proctor & Gamble, Northern Tel to China to teach English and communication skills associated with basic office The Chinese government is currently creating a commercial law system allowing it to deal effectively with these companies and Lisa hopes to be able to set up a legal secretarial program procedures. A native of Port Perry, Lisa has always had a thirst for knowledge. She's a graduate of York University with a BA in Economics and received her MBA this past spring. "I feel lucky to have the opportunity to go as a lot that are going are English speaking Chinese" she said. The fact that she doesn't s Chinese doesn't seem to faze Lisa one bit. She says she has many friends who don't speak English as their first language but appear to fare well. Also, she spent the summer last year working in Finland, all part of her work on her Masters, and didn't find the language an obstacle during her visit. But, why did she choose to apply for a teaching job in China? "Mr. Talbot, my history teacher at PPHS, always talked about China and made it sound 80 interesting" she said. Also, she knows many Chinese students at York and, through meeting them, is keen to see their country and work with the people. While in China, Lisa will be teaching in the downtown government buildings of the country's capital, Beijing. The teachers will be staying in a residence located about 15 km outside the city where each will have his/her own apartment complete with kitchen and bathroom, "a real luxury" she smiles. Her parents, Stan and Cheryl, are behind their daughter all the way. "It's a challenge for her and | know she'll find it interesting" her mom told the Citizen, proudly.
