As the average reader knows, Unicef does its work for children worldwide who are much less fortunate than most of our own tend to be. For example, they are now working in Rwanda to build schools and change curriculum so that future disasters can be prevented. Small amounts go a long way in the developing world! We can all help out by donating small change to the orange boxes our kids carry on Hallowe'en night, and also by putting boxes out at other events such as dances, parties, or even in our local stores around Hallowe'en. I have a supply of the large-size boxes and would be happy to drop one off for your event or store - just give me a call at 985- 3225. I'm willing to roll the coins too (luckily, my kids and some friends always help me with this!) and will make sure to let people know how much our efforts have raised. It all adds up! It would be wise to mark our ballots only after careful consideration of not only the hopefuls' qualifications and experience, but also of their ability to be fair and open- minded, and to have rapport with the youth they would serve and direct. The most recent lady declaring intent to leap for the brass Board ring brings much of the aforementioned into serious question. Closed-minded extreme fundamentalism, and self-proclaimed omniscience under the flimsy guise of knowing what is truly best for everyone frighten me silly, as they should every rational being. Our music and sports programs, and special events such as the Ambassadors Spookerama are examples of responsible, and meaningful, student activities. Various groups within the school are constantly looking for means of establishing symbiotic relationships with the community, the business class and their All Candidates Forum, the Cross Country Ski Team and their Leaf Pickup fund raiser, (see classifieds), the cooperative education many others.
