Instructors for the camp were obin Sluce, Dan McNell, Steve Conway and Jimmy Cook. The weather made It feel like spring training. Ravens still look for first broomball win Raven Renovations are yet to win a league game this season, but it's not for a lack of trying. Again this past Sunday try as they might they still came out on the bottom end this time losing to B&R Swampers 5-0 in Port Perry Broomball league action. The first half ended with the Swampers up by two with the opening goal going to Brians Robinson from Mike Healy with the other coming from the stick of Mike Butt assisted by Mike Mole. The second period saw Dale Lown get the pure hat trick as he fired in the remaining three for B&R. Drawing assists were Jarrett Harman with three, followed by Brian Pomeroy with a pair and Healy geting his #§cond of the game. Between the pipes it was Keith Tremblay getting his third shutout of this young season. The next game was a little closer as Trader Sam's squeaked past the Framer's Gallery 3-1. The Framers actually drew first blood late in the opening period when Jim Weir set up Peter n. This was' short-lived as Trader's answered with one of Nees their own just over a minute later when Charlie Dennis scored from Ken St. Amant. The first period ended deadlocked at one apiece. Just over three minutes into the second frame Trade second goal went up on t board with St. Amant and™ Dennis reversing roles. With 23 seconds to go they put the icing on the cake as Brad Maarse converted a Dennis set up. The final game of the day was similar to the middle game with the Brooklin Bruins triumphing over the Blackstock Brewers by the game 3-1 tally. The similarities don't end there though. Brooklin pulled out head with Nick Attwood potting one from Shawn Mitchell midway through the opening half only to see Blackstock reply one minute later with Peter Wagg scoring from Scott MacLennan and Tem Wotten. Brooklin bounced back just over a minute later with Luc Collard assisting on Mitchell's marker.to take a 2-1 lead to the intermission. The game stayed this way until with 1:17 to go Wayne Tate and Ron Attwood set up Nick Attwood for the final goal of the day. ) Chiefs out an end to MoJacks win streak The Port Perry MoJacks tried to make it five straight wins Sunday night at the Scugog Arena, but the Lakefield Chiefs had other ideas. The Chiefs got some solid netminding from Brent Halliday and the MoJacks snipers had 'rust on the gun sights as the visitors doubled Port Perry 6-3 in Central Junior C League action. Chiefs jumped into a 3-0 lead in the first period and just kept a goal ahead of the MoJacks the rest of the way. Halliday came up with some . timely saves in the Chief net, and the MoJacks rattled several shots off the goal posts and cross bar. Trailing 3-0 late in the second period, MoJacks tried to get back in the game as Keith Leslie cut in from the right side and flipped the puck upstairs to make it 3-1. Lakefield got its three goal cushion back at 19:03 when Dalton O'Neil got his second of the game off a two on oné break against James Patterson in the Port Perry net. With three second to playin the middle period, Mike Pigeau gave the MoJacks a bit of a lift when he chipped in a shot to ke the score 4-2 after 40 inutes. But the third period belonged to the Chiefs who took advantage of MoJack penalties to make it 6-2 before Trevor Bremnor rounded out the scoring late in the contest. Compared to the fight-filled first meeting between these two teams in Lakefield, Sunday's game was a tame affair as both clubs stuck to hockey and ref John Gerelus called eight minor penalties. MoJacks outshot the Chiefs 33- 27. On Saturday night the MoJacks won their fourth straight game as they dumped the Merchants 5-3 in Little Britain. Merchants took a 1-0 lead in the first on a power play effort by Chad Desjardins, MoJacks got on the board late in the second when Chad Kearns was set up by lan Titterton while killing a penalty, and with one second left in the period Steve Laird gave the MoJacks a 2-1 lead with Jeremy Ross and Todd Dennis getting the assists. Merchants got two more in the third by Tyler Jenkins and Desjardins, his second of the game. But the MoJacks replied with three of their own from Kevin McDonald, Titterton and Kearns wjth his second of the contest. Rick Hutchinson was sharp in the MoJack cage facing 30 shots, while Ryan West saw 24 chunks of rubber fired his way in the Merchant net. This was a chippy game on both sides with Brent Thompson calling over 100 minutes in penalties. SLAPSHOTS: MoJacks will have four games on the road before they return to the Arena on SGnday, Oct. 30 for a tilt with the Bowmanville Eagles. This extended road trip will take the MoJacks to Georgina this Friday night, to Bowmanville on Sunday night (7:30 PM) to Uxbridge on October 28 and back to Georgina on Oct. 29. There is no Jr. C hockey at the Scugog Arena this coming Sunday night (Oct. 23) as the, team is in Bowmanville to take on the first place Eagles. That should be a good one.
