= Sesjopoim Tesday, Deiober 18, 1094 -- 33 Ovér 620 students from Durham Region public schools participated In S.A. Cawker Public School's annual cross country run in memory of Lisa Carison who taught at the school and was kitled In a car accident two years ago. She was on her way home from baseball tournament at the time. A trophy for the cross country run donated by her teammates was won by Farewell P.S. from Whitby. The race was held October 12, at the Scugog Soccer Flelds. ps Novice House League The Novice House League in Port Perry Minor Hockey is underway finally after practices and tryouts for the rep teams have been completed. The players from every team have been working hard and by the second week of play you could already see an improvement in passing and players trying to stay on side. In the first game of the season Re/Max squared off against Port Perry Printing. This game was - well played with both team's goalies coming up with good games. Kyle Geer and Justin Sanders had good games were Colin Holditch and Scott Lennox unassisted. Norm Rooney scored for the Printing team with Mike Redman picking up the assist. For the Re/Max team Brook MacKenzie and Craig Kehoe had good games on defense. Maggie Robbins and Mitchell Sauder get the good hustle award for their efforts and Jessie Mullins showed great stick handling and got some good shots away. For the Port Perry Printing team Kellen Jackson and Billy Britt get the good hustle award as they picked up a couple of breakaways for their efforts. Brent Meeking displayed some good stick handling and passing. In the second game of the day VanCamp took on Haugens. This game had a little bit more scoring than the first game and was exciting to watch. Scoring for Haugens was Matthew Kamminga with four goals.' Joseph Kozlinsky with two goals while Jeremy Morrison rounded out the scoring with one goal. Kyle Pett and Alex Herold piked up assists. David Dekoning had a good game on defense. For the VanCamp team Jesse Mischitian picked up 2 goals with assists going to Tyler Martin. Matt Menear and Darryl Copithorn picked up unassisted goals. Troy Johnson had a strong game on defense. In the second week of play the pace was just a little bit faster than the first week as'the players are really starting to get their skating legs in shape. The first game of the day was Port Perry Printing versus Haugens. Both goalies Sam Bennett for Haugens and Kellen Jackson for Port Perry Printing played very well Chris Jackson and Billy Britt picked up assists with David McGarry picking up a hat trick. Adam Smart had a good game on defense and Jon Breen gets the good hustle award for this game. Scoring for Haugens was Matt Charron with assists going to Kyle Pett and Alex Herold. Russell Lee played very well on defense and the good hustle award goes to Justin Cottrell. In the second game of the day it was all Jesse Mischtian for im Grosvenor .. for a Common Sense Councillor Ward 2 the VanCamp team as he scored 5 goals on the way to a 7-3 win over the Re/Max team. Tyler Martin picked up 2 goals and 2 assists. Darryl Copithorn picked up 2 assists while Matt Whalen, Blake McLaughlin and Troy Johnson picked up an assist each. Kyle Bower played well on defense for the VanCamp team. Scoring for the Re/Max team were Scott Lennox, Clay Trainor and Jesse Mullins. Assists went to Ryan Hockley, Robbie Waller and Kevin Dalby.
