Fu With the great October weather came exciting games in the SHL this week! Once again, those teams with a full phi of playets i to have an advantage as the league balance is determined by the rating system! Game 1 saw a depleted roster for the Fitzgerald Clippers face a full team slate for the Pizza Delight Devils. The mere 6 skating Clippers gave it their best, but were no match for the Devil's 3 line attack and the Devils cruised to a 4-0 victory. For the Devils Ken Smart Sr. and John Mackey each had a goal and an assist. Bill Foote and "Moose Hunter", Tim Ashbridge had singles with Steve Dunn chipping in 2 assists and singles to "Red" Stevenson, Bob Beveridge and Todd Healey. Jon Rensink, filling in for Devil's goaltender Doug MacSween registered the shutout. Game 2 saw those amazing Taylor Aces control the league rosters ot leading Harrison Blazers as they played to a 4-4 draw. The Blazers struck first'in this game but the Aces turned on the power to tie the first place Harrison squad, and without strong goaltending by Ken Harman could have even captured the win! Todd Wilbur led the Taylor attack with a pair of goals. Bob Beacock and Ken Little had a goal and an assist each. Rick Campbell had 2 helpers with single assists credited to Wayne Norton, Mike Kane and "Legend" Sheehey For the Blazers it was Dave Milton with a pair and singles to Darcy Milligan and Marvin Stevenson. John Harman set up 3 Blazer tallies hile single assists went to illigan, Stevenson, Larry Jackson, Jim Park and you guessed it, Jim Beatty! For the Phantoms Fred Moffatt found the net twice with a single by Brian Samis. Bill VanCamp and Wayne Hancock had single assists to complete the Phantom scoring. Game 4 saw the Monsma Chargers pull within a single point of the league leading Blazers with a 7-4 decision over the Compton Comets. The Chargers were firing on all cylinders as 10 team members figured in the scoring parade in this important victory. Bill Bridge with a pair and singles from Paul VanCamp, Lee Wilbur, Dave Thompson, Jason Warner and Duane Bronson sealed with 2 points. Brad Hurst had 3 assists, while Warner and Bronson had 2 each and singles went to VanCamp, Wilbur, Jim Duncan, Tony Oxley and Rick Olaisen. For the Comets it was 2 replies by Bill Weisflock and a single to Willy Edwards and "gunner", Doug Bache] Tom Barnes had 3 set-ups while Weisflock, Edwards, Dave Dickson and Mike McQuade each got credit for single assists. Oly po ny down for game 5, the J & D Hawks decided to go on a scoring rampage in search of their third win of the season and proceeded to blast the Van World Sharks 10-3. The Sharks have really missed Phil Cochrane and Gary Lance from their lineup in the past few weeks and now an injury to defenseman Doug Seeley puts them in tough each game. The Hawks scoring fiesta saw Keijo Kinnunen with his first career hat trick, Rick Hope with a pair and singles by Joe Curran, Ed Olsen, Ritchie Lefort, Doug Suppelsa and Carl Durward. Durward, Lefort and "Captain" Callery had 3 assists apiece, with 2 by "Pie" Jackson and singles from Curran, Suppelsa, Peter Lane and Chris Brain to"complete with Hawk feeding! For the Sharks it was Randy Prosser from Scott Davis and Steve Connors twice, and an unassisted counter by Ivan Geer. Don't be too quick to count those Sharks out yet. As anyone who has been around the league for a while knows anything cah and usually does happen in the SHL, as the season progresses!
