Anne G and stud Owain Clarke from Port Perry High School hosts students from Wales by Heather McCrae Several rugby players from a high school team in Swansea, South Wales were in Port Perry for a few days last week, all part of a student exchange visit Speaking to the Citizen, Anne Gimblett, a teacher from Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr School, said there's never been a dull moment since arriving in town and they were enjeying our hospitality immensely Since arriving at Pearson International Airport on October 14 the students had been spending part of their Ontario visit with the students from Courtice high School and Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate in Toronto. Before arriving in Port Perry the Welsh visitors had played several field hockey and rugby games with their host schools and enjoyed the sights of Niagara Falls, the Ontario Science Centre, the CN Tower and attended an Oshawa Generals hockey game. The next day the Port Perry billets and their visitors spent an hour of skating at the arena Some of these students had 'never donned skates before and were enjoying this new venture During the two day visit they played rugby ap hockey games again, canoed on the lake and went go cartihg. Ms. GimBlett told the Citizen "we've all had a marvelous time".
