MoJacks were in the Eagles Nest Sunday night and despite a solid effort came up on the short end of a 5-4 contest. The win pushed the Eagles record to 7-0, while the loss by the MoJacks gives them a five and two season to date. MoJacks were coming off a 6-5 Friday night victory over the Sutton Ice, while the Eagles had drilled the Little Britain Merchants 9-4 on Saturday. Sunday's tilt in Bowmanville was delayed an hour due to problems with the ice, but once it got underway the fans on hand were treated to some entertaining hockey. MoJacks opened a 1-0 lead at 13:37 on the power play as Keith Leslie clicked on the back hand on a set up from Todd Dennis and Mike Pigeau. Three minutes later it was tied 1-1 as the Eagles Jeremy Pate was left standing by himself in front of Rick Hutchinson. Early in the second, MoJacks again took a one goal lead as Leslie got his second the game, this time short-handed. Todd Stirling did the work deep in the Eagle zone to come up with the puck and shgvel a pass to Leslie 'in front. Scott Heasman got the other assist. The middle frame ended with a flurry of goals ag the Eagles netted three in under four minutes by Doug Wright, Brian Anstey and Jason Mallen to take a 4-2 lead with Just ¢ over two minutes to play. But the MoJacks rallied with a pair of their own, the first by Jeremy Ross on a nice pass from Ryan Ridgway, and the next with ten seconds left to play by Mike Pigeau as he flagged down a long pass near centre and cut in to beat Barry Crawford on the back-hand. Assists on this one went to Duane Empringham and Jamie Moore. With the écore knotted 4-4, the only goal in the final frame came at 10:35 when leading scorer Gary Armstrong was set up right in front of Hutchinson and he made no mistake to give the Eagles the win. MoJacks actually had the better of the play through much of the final period, but were not able to capitalize on decent scoring chances. Eagles out-shot MoJacks 39-34 in this one. Jason Cochrane and Jason Mosier got into a first period scrap with Cochrane landing a couple of punches before thgy were separated by the linesmen. On Friday night in Sutton, Keith Leslie again provided some scoring punch as he netted two in a 6-§ MoJack win over the Ice. Other marksmen were Dennis, Jaso, Jase Cochrane, *Pigeau, and BA Robinson had two goals and two assists for the Ice. SLAPSHOTS: MoJack head coach Brad Menzies would certainly have liked to come home from Bowmanville with at least a point, but he said after the game he was not unhappy with the way the team performed "We played a good game. I've no complaints." He said the Eagles were better offensively, but the MoJacks were better defensively. "If we are able to get four or five goals each game, I'll be happy." Looking ahead to the coming weekend, the MoJacks have three very tough outings in as many nights. They start Friday in Uxbridge, then travel to Sutton on Saturday night and finish off Sunday at home against the Eagles. Game time at the Scugog Arena is 7:00 PM.
