That's how JoAnne Callery, Chairman of the Committee described the success of the Grand Masquerade Gala. "It was a great team to work with and the end result is a factor of it} Mrs. Callery told the Citizen. $35,000. was raised and consequently turned over to the Community Memorial Hospital's Building Fund. Expenses amount to $11,000. were underwritten by the generous response of numerous 4 sponsors. Debbie McGarry, Manager of the CMH Foundation, told the Citizen almost $10,000. was raised in the Silent and Live Auctions while another $4,000. was procured with the Mystery Boxes. And another $2500. was realized in the Club Masks event. A further $5,000. was received Local grower namely Paul Livingston, Paul Williams, Debi Fitzgerald, David Johnson, Donald Chase and Rick Beaver. in cash donations. Selling at $40. each, the tumbler centrepieces brought in another $1,000. The shop students at PPHS cut out the wood pieces Mrs. McGarry said 90% of the people came dressed in costume. Countless businesses and individuals donated cash, items or 'packages' to help make the = while the decorating committee for 'the Gala painted them. Thanks to the Cartier Place Hotel, Robert Thiessen of Toronto won a weekend in Ottawa and Mayor Howard Hall won a weekend in Niagara Falls, compliments of the Best" Western Fireside Hotel in the honeymoon city and the Pillar & Post Inn, Niagara-on-the-Lake. While donating a gift from their store, Native Perspectives also donated several works of art from its many artists, named to ARIO More than $35,000 was raised at the Grand Masquerade Gala and consequently turned over the the Commuiity Memorial Hospital Bullding Fund. For the phst eight years she has operated Apple Doctor Ltd., in which she is a pest management consultant to other apple growers. A director of the Fruit and Vegetable Growers Assoc. of Ontario, she said she was pleased with the recent appointment.
