' Bantams send Lindsay reeling On October 24, the Port Perry Country Style Donut Bantams, played host to the Bantam Lindsay Bears. We weren't very gracious to our guests, blowing them out of the arena. We truly send out our apologies to the Lindsay squad. Port Perty scored first with Motor City Smitty beating the goalie high. Smitty really has the wheels. he can fly! Hobbsy struck next, with a bad angled slapshot. Hobbs can score from anywhere! Casey Van Schagen assisted Adam with a fine pass. Boy, were we ready to play tonight, or what? Assistant captain Mike Morden scored next to bring the score to three- nil. Shaggy scored the final goal of the period with a ripper from the point. Norton set up Van Schagen. Norty must have compound eyes, because I've never seen anyone pass like he can. Our only goal of the second period was from Jay Strickert. Jay, his linemates Scott Heffern and Shane Norton, took. the moves out of their pockets and put on a show, with a three on two rush. Bowango! Lindsay's only goal came in the second when they finally. mamaged to beat Johnston between the pipes. Kent played an amazing game in the cage, stopping 38 blistering shots and only allowing 1. What's the real reason Johnston and Savage stand in and let pucks bounce off their bodies" Is it to satisfy the fans" Both play great game after game. Way to go fellas! Strickert scored his second goal of the night early in the third with Heffern and Norton assisting him once again. Jay's a sniper! He blasted a shot over Lindsay goalie, Jason Grahm" s shoulder. Grahm relieved Lindsay starting goalie Ryan Stephens, hb! who was smart enough to leave after seeing the force of Port's offensive talent. This was another great effort by the entire team, defensively as well as offensively. Wyatt Park was up with the team once again, helping out in the absence of Rob Murphy. The Swampers got on the scoreboard first with Jarrett Harman picking up his first of a natural hattrick with Brian Robinson drawing the assist. From that point on Brooklin picked it up a notch rattling off 3 straight before the end of the opening period. Wayne Tate fired in 2 in.a row with Murray Down setting up the first one. Shawn Mitchell rounded out the period's scoring as he put one in along the ice with 55 seconds still on the clock Harman then brought B&R even with his final 2 midway through the second, again with Robinson's help on one of them B&R again pulled ahead when Mike Mole assisted on Jason Price's goal with 3:36 left in regulation time. The Bruins didn't stop as they got the tying goal with 1:30 to go from the broom of Ron Attwood Due to time constraints it was a shortened overtime period and with 43 seconds to go in it, Ron Attwood set up Nick Attwood for the winner. The Blackstock Brewers and Trader Sam's also played a close seesaw battle with Blackstock squeaking out a 4-3 win Trader's notched the game's_ first goal with Charlie Dennis counting from Ken St. Amant, and J. Blackstock then kicked it in gear as they rattled off 3 in a row to pull ahead. Tom Wotten netted the next 2, with one being assisted by Gord Bryans, with Ron Wagg hooking up with Short to get the eventual winner. Trader's made it close as O'Meara's second from St Amant came with 11 seconds showing on the clock. Even the last game of the day was good and close as The Framer's Gallery snuck past Raven's Renovations 2-1, this one again going down to the final seconds before a winner was established Framer's drew first blood as Brent Rainey potted one from a set up by Steve Kristensen right off the opening face-off. Before the first period had ended though Raven's were right back in it with Dan VanLoom tying it up. It looked like overtime was imminent in this game also as neither team could muster any more offense to add , to the score.
