my" Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, November 8, 1994 -- 31 - Hanover Hill to host dairy show for the world Over 4000 dairymen and their families from around the world are expected to walk through the doors of Hanover Hill Holsteins next week. At the prestigious farm in Port Perry, dairymen will have the golden opportunity to view progeny groups of two, of Canada's highest ranked sires, namely Hanoverhill Lieutenant and Roycedale Approval. ; Twenty-two daughters of these two top bulls will be housed and milked at Hanover Hill Holsteins from Novembe} 14 - 22, 'in eonjunction with the running of 'the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. The Autumn Progeny Revue, presented by United Breeders Inc., a Guelph-based A.l (artificial insemination) co- operative, and hosted by Hanover Hill Holsteins, will give breeders world-wide a chance to view the offspring of these popular newly proven bulls. By looking at the twenty-two . daughters of these two bulls, the breeder will be able to visualize each bull's breeding pattern and, if so desired, can incorporate that same pattern in their own_ herds by purchasing semen from UBI. During a visit to Hanover Hill last week, Brian Carscadden, a sire analyst for UBI; told the Citizen, "This is the first time a project like this has been done af a farm in the dairy Al industry. It's done in Europe, but this is the first time in Canada!" Some might ask the question, why have Hanover Hill host the "Revue?" The answer is easy. Hanover Hill Holsteins is Canada's premier breeding establishment, known wofld- wide -- and it's the birthplace of one of the featured bulls, Hanoverhill Lieutenant. Four breeders in the area providing some of the daughters of these two bulls are Dusty Bros., Seagrave; Thorahlea Farms (Kea), Beaverton; Danny and Collette McFadden, Sunderland; and Mike Vandenburg, Reabero. ' Each breeder showing one of these daughters of Hanoverhill Lieutenant and Roycedale Approval will get a gift certificate for' a lunch at Haugen's Chicken & Ribs in Manchester. Snacks and refreshments, including hot apple cider and, of course, milk, will be provided by Willowtrees Farms. Ih addition to this, Willowtree Farms will also be adding the festive fall decorations in and around the barn. : Carscadden told the Citizen, "already 30 buses are scheduled to arrive next week, during the Royal, and that number is increasing daily." The excitement is tremendous." he said. This is a 'must see' for members of UBI and non: members alike. Peter Heffering, owner of Hanover Hill Holsteins, was totally receptive to the idea right from the beginning. And in true Hanover Hill style, the Port Perry farm and staff will be grand hosts for this progeny revue. People In the dairy industry from all over the world will have a chance to see the offspring of two top Canadian bulls next week at Hanover Hill Holsteins in Port Perry.
