=~ 42 -- Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, November 8, 1994 -- i ModJacks find home ice very much to their liking The Port Perry MoJacks are starting to develop a deep affection for the friendly confines of the Scugog Arena. For the second straight Sunday, MoJacks turned in a stellar performance and the result was a 4-0 whitewash over the hard skating Bobcaygeon Bullets. MoJacks record on the home pond now stands at four wins and one defeat, while on the road they are three wins, three losses and a tie. The victory pushed the ModJacks into second place in the Central Junior C standings, with 15 points, two better than Uxbridge Bruins who dropped a pair of weekend games. James Paterson got the call in goal for the MoJacks on Sunday and he was full marks for the shut-out victory. Though not over-worked (he faced 14 shots) Paterson was severely tested on some of them, especially in the first period. As they did a week ago when the MoJacks knocked down the first place Eagles, the team did a superb job of bottling up the Bullets, breaking up plays at the blue line and clearing the puck away from the danger zones around Paterson. The Bullets appear to be a vastly improved team over last season. In fact, they skated the MoJacks to a 3-3 deadlock Friday night in the 'Cage, and stomped the Uxbridge Bruins 8 5 on Saturday night In Sunday's encounter in front of a good crowd at The Arena, Ryan Ridgway drew first blood at the mid-point of the first "he was Steve Laird took a pass from Duane Empringham who in turn dished off the Ridgway. The big rookie made. no mistake with a wrist shot that found its way through the pads of netminder Chad Van Dam. MolJacks took advantage of the power play late in the period with Steve Staniland slapping the puck through a crowd with Jeremy Ross and Todd Dennis getting the assists Leading sniper Keith Leslie gave the MoJacks a three-goal bulge at 18:37 on a fine individual effort. Cutting in from the right side, Leslie managed to put the puck behind Van Dam as sent sprawling Linemates Dennis and lan Titterton got the assists. And it was this same trio who got the lone goal in the final frame to cement the victory. Dennis moved the puck from the corner and slid a pass to Leslie who made no migtake with his 11th of the campaign On Friday night in Bobcaygeon, MoJacks got goals from Leslie, Mike Pigeau and Todd Dennis in a 3-3 tie with the Bullets. MoJacks had a wide edge in the territorial play as they out- shot their hosts 43-22 in this one Sunday night's game was an entertaining affair with both teams handing out some solid hits. Ryan Ridgway was throwing his large frame around and early in the third he crushed Mike Quibel against the end boards. Seconds later, Ridgway took a loose puck at the Bullet line and moved in for a good useful. Level 1 Coach. Both teams took nine minor penalties in this one. SLAPSHOTS: Head coach Brad Menzies said after the game he will stick with the four-line formation that seems to be working, as long as the team stays away from the penalty box "If we start taking penalties, it throws everything off," he said. He had words of praise for the way his goaltenders (Paterson. and Rick Hutchinson) are performing. In fact, they sport the lowest GAA in the Central League, having given up 37 goals in 12 games Menzies said the victory over Bowmanville a week ago boosted team confidence as the MoJacks have defeated every team in the league This coming weekend, MoJacks are on the road for two games On Saturday, they are in Little Britain at 7:30 PM and on Sunday night will be in Lakefield for a 7:30 faceoff. Next home game at the Arena is Thursday, Nov. 17 when they host Little Britain at 8:30 PM. James Paterson recorded his first shut-olt of the year Sunday night as the MoJacks blanked the Bobcaygeon Bullets 4-0 in Central Junior C action at the Scugog Arena. James had plenty of help from his teammates who held the visitors to just 14 shots, but he had to be very sharp on several good scoring chances.
