James Lumbers, known for his famous paintings that always involve "a ghost or two" was born in Toronto. After working in the field of industrial and corporate design he realized his dream of becoming a painter in 1970. By the late seventies Mr. Lumbers was recBgnized as one of Canada's foremost realist painters. His work is familiar to the North American public through many solo an# group exhibitions, including shows at the Royal Ontario Museum, the McMichael Canadian Art Gallery and the Kennedy Galleries of New York. The art of Shirley Deaville is very profound. Her themes are timelegs; a cluster of wildflowers, 'a oni on a spring bough or a cherished moment in a child's journey through life. Born and raised in North Toronto Ms. Deaville began to paint with a little set of oils given to her by her mother for passing through grade eight with honours. This absorbing hobby of hers led to her studying painting with some of the most respected classical painters of her time. Today, Ms. Deaville's limited- edition prints have met with enormous success and her many sold-out editions are attributed to her many admirers and . Experimenting with oils, acrylics and other media, she chose to concentrate on watercolours in the mid- seventies. Winning an award in Hamilton & Region Juried Watercolours Exhibition encouraged her to approach a few private galleries. Since then her work has been seen in many*solo and group shows. Kathryn has also become a careful and dedicated teacher of watercolour techniques, and has given courses and workshops for various private groups, colleges, art schools and universities. The work of all three artists is on display and for sale at the Framer's Gallery ow Queen Street, Port Perry.
