The Techstars had handled the Blackhawks pretty easily in their only other meeting. But Sunday night wasn't their night. With some help from the men in strips, the Blackhawks won 7-6. Things looked good early as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Gavin Baxter and Dan Lyons. Assists went to Ryan Puckrin and Scott Sanderson (on Baxter's goal) and Wyatt Park (on Lyon's). Two minutes later the Blackhawks got 1 back to make it 2-1 Techstars. Scatt Sanderson got that one back with an unassisted goal. With 2:56 to go in the 1st period a bad call by the ref seemed to rattle the Techstars. The Blackhawks got two power goals and the game tied 3-3. The two teams traded goals early in the second. Ian Parliament scored an unassisted goal. The Blackhawks took their first lead of the game to make it 5-4. Ryan Puckrin got that one back when Dillan Weber passed it out to him in front of the net. The Blackhawks scored one more to make it 6-5"going into the third. The Techstars tied it up early in the third when Ryan Puckrin went in alone and put in his second of the night. With just over 2 minutes to go, the Blackhawks scored to take.a 7-6 lead. With less than 30 seconds on the clock and the goalie on the bench Dillan Weber hit one off the inside of the crossbar for what should have been the game tying goal, but unfortunately the ref didn't see it that way. That was the second time that game they called Weber's goal back. On Thursday, the Techstars went to Sutton to face the Sutton team. The Techstars walked away with an easy 12-1 win. Wyatt Park lead the scoring with 3 goals. Scott Harper, Troy Campbell, Glen McCreedy, Ryan Puckrin, Scott Sanderson, JP Copeland, Dillan Weber, Ian Parliament and Adam "Bullet" Brain, scored the other goals. Assists went to Dave Gainey (2), Ryan Puckrin (2), Dillan Weber (2), lan Parliament, Dan Lyons (3), Glen McCreedy (2), Troy Campbell, JP Copeland (2), Scott Sanderson and Scott Harper. Doug Short played a good game in goal just barely missing the shutout. ==>" Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, November 21, 1994 --35 _+ Isles scratch for a Hello again everybody, and welcome back to the continuing saga of the Midget Canadian Tire Islander's roster. It continues to deplete game after game, but thanks to a lot of heart shown by the remaining players and a handful of call- ups, Port was able to scratch out a point with a 4-4 tie against Manvers last Wednesday night. With Carl Phoenix already out for 8-10 weeks, and Greg Thompson's departure for the Midget 'A' team, Port was also without Jason Logan who suffers from an injured leg and Devin Blair who had his wisdom teeth yanked. To replace these gaps in the line up, the Islanders called up Gavin Baxter, Glen McCready and Jonathan McCourt and signed Adam Hunter to an undisclosed contract. These four proved worthy as they all played extremely well. Port struck first blood early in the game when Jon Jamieson gathered in a Kevin Gray rebound and tucked it phelf, over the goalies trou gllir Jonathan McCourt hi arted the play. Port then took it's usual second period siesta and watched as Manvers put together three unanswered goals to merge ahead 4-1. Jamieson then got Port rolling again as he ever so gently guided a loose puck into a wide open net. I think if Jon had taken any longer to score, coaches Gary oint Smith and Steve Thompson would have each had a heart attack. Matt Brown and Gray assisted on Jamison's second goal. Port came out flying in the final period and looked eager for at least a tie. Sniper, Eric Lucyk scored a pair of goals late in the game to square things at four Trevor Smith and McCourt earned well deserved assists on Lucyk's goals. Jamieson had thought he had completed his hat trick with only a few ticks on the tock but the officials ruled the net was off it's magnets, and Port settled for a te. Port's next action is this Wednesday. night in Beaverton against the Blades. Doors defeat Oshawa 4-1 On Sat. Nov. 19, the Oshawa Canadians came to town to take on our PeeWee B squad. The last time these two teams tangled, Oshawa made a third period comeback to defeat Pert Perry, however, tonight was a different story. The Overhead Doors PeeWees have worked hard on positioning in practice and in this match, Oshawa was unable to penetrate our defence more than one time. Port Perry, on the other hand, scored four times to take a 4-1 win, Part way through the first period, Matt MacMaster put Port Perry on the board on a Compton Novice over Innisfil Compton Cable Minor Novice visited Lefroy to play Innisfil on Nov. 17. Port Perry captured their first lead with a goal by Kyle Mullins from Matthew Roth. Compton Cable continued on a roll with goals by Micheal Lycett from Tyson Savage, and Cassidy Weber from Derek Goreski and Taylor Churchill. Kory Bauer did great work clearing the puck in front of the net. Innisfil got a late goal to spoil a shut-out for Port Perry. - Compton Cable' s improved offensive passing plays made the difference on this, their third meeting with Innisfil. On Sat. Nov. 20th, Stouffville brought their best to town. Their high-flying forwards led by #7 Lombardo scored 5 unanswered goals. Compton Cable met, aggressive defense as they tried to score. Ashley Lucas even took a nice shot from the seat of her pants. Todd Lance and Jeff Tomcheski worked hard and displayed good puck control. Mark Carnaghan and Leo Taillon played well to keep the score down to 5. In both games Danny Halward, Shane Jeffrey, and Taylor Churchill were solid on defense stopping many rushes. Matt made it 2-0 before the end of the first when he tipped in a rebound on a goal mouth scramble. Assists were by Scott Brownson and Murphy Irvine. Both teams had chances in the second but no goals were scored again until early in the third ' period when Grant Hooker found the mark through a crowd in front of the net. Grant's goal was assisted by Matt MacMaster and Kam Cooper. Towards the end of the third Oshawa did score one to make the score 3-1 but Scott Brownson made it 4-1 on a nice wrist shot to close out the scoring. Matt MacMaster had the helper. Ryan Fraser got the win in net for the "Doors". Matt MacMaster was given the nod for "Best Effort" for his fine game. Next home action for the Overhead Doors PeeWee 'B's will be Fri.
