The parade route is as follows: Reach Rd. to Simcoe Street to Queen St. to Water St and along Water Street where the parade will end near the intersection of Highway 7A. This extended route offers many great vantage points to view the entire parade And when it's over, Santa will make his way to his "Santa House" on the nérth side of Queen Street where he'll greet children of all ages. Thieves hit local businesses Durham Police report several break-ins at homes and businesses in the Scugog area over the last few days. A police spokesman said thieves broke into the Herbally Yours store on Mary Street some time Saturday night or early Sunday morning. They made off with a small amount of money and some herbs. And on the same night, thieves pried open a rear door of the Port Perry Star on Mary Street and got away with a quantity of money and a brief case. Both incident are investigation, said spokesman. © _ An overnight break-in November 17-18 at Haugen Restaurant in Manchester netted thieves a quantity of cash in the form of rolled coins. Police say the outer phone lines at the restaurant were cut before thieves pried open a heavy steel door. They rifled office drawers under the and cash registers before making off with the quantity of money. And a November 15 daytime robbery at a home on the Cartwright West Quarter Line resulted in the loss of about $3500 worth of electronic equipment including a bass guitar, VCR, stereo and TV set Thieves went through a garage door and then a locked interior door to gain access to the home while the owners were away for the day. October building permits increase over last year The value of building permits in Scugog Township this October was nearly double the figure for the same month last year. Building permits issued in Scugog to date (Jan. to Oct.) are down slightly over the same ten months in 1993 So far there have been 203 permits issued with a value of $8.9 million. Last year to the end of October, there were 218 permits issued worth $14.8 million. This figure included a single permit worth $5.2 million for the addition to Community Hospital. To date this year, there have been 50 permits for new homes worth $5.9 million, compared with 51 last year worth a similar amount. Commercial permits have plunged from a value of $740,000 last year to $100, 000 so far this year, and the value of permits for commercial alterations and additions is also down from $359,000 a year ago to $21,000 to date this year. One sector that is showing improvement over last year is in farm construction where permits so far this year total $817,000, as opposed to $584,000 through the end of October, 1993.
