er Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, November 29, 1994 -- 15 4 What's on at your Library by Liz Drebit Now that the most recent municipal elections are behind us, it is the time when the newly elected council advertises for appointments to a variety of committees. The ad in last week's Citizen indicated that "the Scugog Public Library Board requires six members to serve 3 years". Applications are to be submitted to Earl Cuddie at the Township offices by Fridays December 2, so it seems like a good time to devote this column rer Henshall's 241 QUEEN STREET, PORT PERRY 985-1965 Clothing ts for HINT ¢ IRIN to what exactly is involved with serving on the library board. The first thing that should be stressed is that there is no monetary remuneration involved - in other words, this is not a paying job. This is a voluntary organization which meets on the second Thursday of each month to make decisions on the efficient running of the library. : How much of a commitment is involved? Well, depending on which of the subcommittees you are interested in joining (such as fundraising, one of the busier jobs, public relations, personnel, long range planning or budget) and allowing about three hours for the actual monthly board meeting, the actual time is about ten to twelve hours a month. What sort of person are the councillors looking for? Basically, people who are willing to devote their time to help keep the library running as smoothly as possible. Any extra skills a, person _might possess are welcome as well, but there are no special talents that are required, other than an interest in the library. In order to keep the library working for us, it is important that we do whatever we can to help. If you feel that you have the time to give, and are interested in helping out, please submit your name for this board.
