wy 18 -- Scugog Citizen -- b 3 1994 DISCLOSURE Rating: Definitely (AA) Michael Douglas, Demi Moore, Donald Sutherland Oshawa Centre - 433-3843 Thru sleet, snow and rain. Thru hail and dark of night (whatever it is those guys used to say). The movie must be ventured to and reported on. It was snowing a bit on Saturday night. We had a fleeting thought of renting a video and staying home but the rest of the group was far too excited. It was Saturday night, baby-sitters on their way. Better go. Couldn't let the team down. This movie is based on a book by the Doctor/ writer/ director/ producer Michael Chrichton (Jurassic Park, Rising Sun, Andromeda Strain to mention a few). Michael Douglas stars as Tom Sanders, an executive at a fast growing computer company that is about to merge with another and earn its founder Donald Sutherland (from JFK & Six Degrees of Separation) $100 "At the Movies with Heather Gibson Disclosure the film, much better than the book million. Michael is expecting an important promotion but is passed over in favor of Demi Moore. Michael and Demi as Tom gnd Meredith knew each other from 10 years earlier when they had an affair. It was a bit uncomfortable for Tom to be in this situation now * with Meredith as his new boss. As his boss, she lures him, harasses him then cries "he did it" in an attempt to get rid of him. In defending himself the only way he knows how, honestly and fairly, he uncovers the real scandal behind the plot. It could have been called "Dis- cloth-her". WOW, adult accompaniment is right. Demi Moore never looked so good or was hated so much. Judging by the audience participation, we revelled in the glory of watching her get her just desserts. She was a villain with a capital V. Michael has been here before, playing the victim, (Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct) 'FROSTY NIGHT" by Alexander Krajewski "Come on Tom, open your eyes. Women are smarter, faster, and higher up on the food chain" revealed one of the more intelligent characters in this film. I enjoy reading the book, then watching it come to life on the big screen. Usually the film pales in comparison. The problem I had was that this book was so boring to start with. It was far too technical and dry. Logically the film follows the original but it delivers so much more. Reading about "virtual reslity" and seeing it is the difference between reading about it and actually living it. In this case a picture is worth 1.0p0 words. I was fascinated (L with the computer technology. You have to stay on your toes with this film, no chatting with your friends or running to the washroom. Missing one line could throw you off for the whole movie. I could have used the remote more than once to rewind those parts I missed. It's not necessary to see this one at the theatre. There is a lot to be said for renting, buying your favourites, getting popcorn from Scooters, finding seating for 10 of your closest friends and laughing at the snow outside. Hey if you could get away with charging admission, you would be ahead of the game. Lastly a word of advice about the theatres. If you don't get the paper, you should call ahead for that day's schedule. Don't call on Thursday looking for the weekend showings, because the new releases usually come out on Friday's and they change the schedules for the weekend. With all of the terrific movies coming out this holiday you don't want to drag the family down there to find out you are too early or too late. If you can't get through you can call me at home, I usually have that day's schedule.
