With two weeks left in the regular season for.the Port Perry Broomball league there's still not a definite layout yet as tg who will be going forward to the playoffs as both Trader Sam's and The Framer's Gallery are still a single point apart in their fight for fourth place as both teams lost this week. Trader's put up a gallant effort i the, as yet undefeat Brooklin Bruins but ended up on the wrong side of a 4-2 tally. The Bruins built up a two goal lead in the first with Jim Mason and Wayne Tate assisting on Dan Jansma's goal from the slot just over the midway point of the first. With 41 seconds showing on the clock in the period Nick Attwood picked up a helper, on Shawn Mitchell's goal. In the second, Trader's fought back to tie it when Mark O'Meara netted one from Larry Maarse. Their secondgoal came from the broom of Ken St. Amant, with Gord Jones and O'Meéra drawing the assists. The tie however, didn't last long as less than a minute later Attwood scored from Luc Collard. On the ensuing faceoff' they again charged down ice' with Kevin Ibbittson finishing off the play from Mason and Ken Lynde to round out the game's scoring. The second affair of the day had Blackstock, who were chasing The Swampers for second place go up against Raven Renovations who have yet to get'a point this season. From the looks of the first period it appeared that may happen in this game as they emerged from the first half down by one with Blackstock's goal coming from Steve Halkes with Dave Dalton and Ron Wagg drawing the assists. In the second Blackstock struck again when Tom Wotten won the faceoff back to Gord Bryans who put it in the net. Raven's then got their lone goal from Jim Potter assisted by Mike Van Loon and Dave Van Loon on a scramble in the goal mouth. From there Blackstock turned it on to come away with a 7-1 victory. Cliff Smith, Ron Short, Tim Cochrane, Wotten, and Halkes with his second, all found the back of the mesh. Drawing the assists were Scott MacLennafi with a pair, Wotten, * Wagg, and Dalton with their second, followed by singles from Bryans, Short, and Smith. With The Swampers holding a single point advantage over Blackstock in the standings going into today's they had to also hold off She charging Framer's Gallery as they were also in a fight of their own trying to stay ahead of Trader Sam's. In a closely contested battle the Swamp prevailed when the final buzzer sounded as they eked out a 2-1 win. The Swampers pulled ahead first midway through the opening period when Dale Lown finished off the play with Jarrett Harman and Dan Taylor getting the assists. They got their second early in the last half with Harman scoring this time from Brian Robinson and Taylor. Just over a minute later the Framer's netted their lone goal from the broom of Paul Brough with Scott McLeod earning the assist. With time winding down the Framer's drew their goalkeeper out for the extra attacker and even with the benefit of a power play in the last thirty secondighey could not get the tying m There will not SL games this Sunday as three of our teams will be in Barrie for the Regional Playdowns. Brooklin will be representing the league in the Iptermediate Tier 1 level while th® Framer's and Trader Sam's will be playing at the Tier 2 level.
