The end of the dynasty; probably not but on this day the Pizzas were not over-cooked. (Special note to Jim Beatty!) Game 4 was a hard act to follow, but the Monsma Chargers brought a full squad to the match to defeat the Compton Comets 5-3. The Chargers were still aware of last week's loss to the Hawks and weren't about to go 0 and 2 in the playoffs this week. Don't think for one minute though that this was a one-sided affair. In fact the score was tied at 3 apiece going into the final frame. It was the Chargers however, who owned the third period with 2 unanswered tallies for the victory. Charger ace Bill Bridge netted a pair with singles to Jason Warner, Duane Bronson, and Lee Wilbur. Single helpers to complete the victory went to Warner, Tony Oxley, Brad Hurst + and Paul VanCamp. For the Comets, Willy Edwards had a great game with 2 goals and an"assist. Tom Barnes back from his broken leg, had 3 assists while Dave Dickson had one of each and Ken Davison added a single assist. Pineridge Tweens tie Whitby 4-4 The Pine Ridge Tween B team travelled to Whitby on Saturday for another exciting game of ringette. As we were short three players, the girls had to work hard to fill the gaps. Our defense of Kathy Cooper, Melissa Hooker, Kim Carrique and Emelie Levielle, was really put to the test in this game and they did an excellent job. Whitby opened the scoring and after many attempts, Jen Imrie on an assist from Leanne Davison and Lisa LeFort, was able to tie things up for us late in the period. 'Whitby soon replied to. take the lead but in the last minute of play Port's Jen Donnelly picked up a nice centre pass to once again tie the game. Early in the second period, Jen Imrie scored again unassisted to take the lead. Port's Diana Burnett came along next to give us an insurance goal. But alas, Whitby wasn't finished and before the period ended they had chalked up two more to end the with a 4-4 tie. Lauren Christie was netminder this game and very capably kept out many shots. Mary Justynski and Amy Wilsori on our forward lines worked tremendotisly hard for the Pine Ridge team. Do or die for : Midget 2 Isles The Canadian Tire Midget 2 team lost both their weekend games to Trenton and have cut | down their chances of advancing to the semi-finals with a tied up series and one game to go. A number of the boys have been suffering with the cold and flu bugs and it sure showed up in their. play. On Friday night our first period was very slow and disorganized and penalties seemed to plague us. Trenton scored the first goal not long into the period, but Jon Jamieson of" the Islanders returned the favour with 2 minutes left. He made a great deak on the goalie and was able to slide the puck right between his legs. Adam Hunter and Matt Brown both picked up assists on this goal. However, Trenton was after blood and before Brian Bickmore was in goal for the Islanders tonight and had to come up with some great saves to keep Trenton at only a 2 goal lead. In the second period, we played & much more aggressive style of hockey and Matt Brown found the top corner of Trenton's net to tie the game up. Adam Hunter and Jon Jamison assisted on Matt's goal. We 'went into the third period with our spirits high, but not enough energy to stop Trenton from scoring again. With 1:19 left on the clock and the score 3- 2, the coaches opted to pull our goalie. Much to our dismay, McCoyhad 4 enough to give us the tie. Jon Jamieson scored our goal Sunday we were on our way back to Trenton to try to close the door, but our boys were just not up to the task. The Islanders again came out slow in the first period and before we knew it the score was 4-1 going into the second. Matt Phillips scored our only goal with a nifty one- handed back-hand shot. In the second period our boys were playing much stronger and Adam Hunter picked his favorite "top corner" while Trenton was playing shorthanded. Jon Jamieson and Rob Gracie picked up assists on this one. Our team came out on fire in the third period and Matt Phillips was able to score twice to give himself a hat trick. Matt Brown assisted on one. However, that was not enough to beat Trenton's man the pipes and even though we threw everything at him we could, he played awesome. When the hometown crowd only 49 seconds left in the d we pulled our goalie to opt fol the 6th attacker but Tren was able to find our open net the 8 second mark. The. "1 score was 6-4. Jamie Trick was between the pipes for Port Perry and he played a good game, b Trenton's goalie being fantastic it was hard appreciate our goaltende
