Police charge mail box smashers Durham Police have charged three Scugog residents with mischief in connection with damaged mail boxes on Concession 9, west of Highway 12. A police spokesman said two of those charged are adults and one is a youthful offender. They were charged early Sunday morning after a witness followed a van along Concession 9 to Highway 12 where it went out of control and into the ditch. The witness trailed the van, after observing the occupants on mail-box smashing spree. Police said about 15 mail boxes were damaged that night to the tune of about $1,000. The three charged will appear in court in March. Police would not release the names of the two adults Monday morning because they had not yet made an appearance in court.
