Baha'i of Scugog sending out their message of faith The residents of Mariposa will receive in this week's Citizen, a flyer which invites them to investigate the Baha'i Faith and gives examples of how this can be done. Some examples are - books .in local libraries, attendance at Baha'i Information Meetings, watching 'Baha'i Perspective' the first Wednesday of each month on Vision TV, etc. One very exciting example is a 24-hour, toll-free, automated Baha'i Info Line which is new to this area. For those who find it intimidating to ask someone directly about their religion, they can access this new service by dialing 1-800-433-3284 on a touch-tone phone and then make choices from a menu. If the caller would like free literature they can choose to leave their name and address. The Baha'i Faith originated in Persia 150 years ago when Baha'u'llah, the Prophet Founder, declared that He was the Promised One of all religions. A principle of the Faith is the independent investigation of truth, which simply means that Baha'is do not proselytize and that it is within the hands and hearts of each individual to search for truth for themselves. There is no clergy in the Baha'i Faith, however, there is an administrative order. This Assembly's work, being one of the institutions of that administrative order, is to reach out to individual hearts and let them know how to investigate Baha'u'llah's claims for themselves. The flyer will do just that. ' We will continue, over the next weeks and months, to place these flyers in local newspapers, until, finally, we have reached every household in Scugog. For those people who can't wait to receive their copy, they can access the toll-free number mentioned above or, if they would like to ask questions voice-to-voice locally, they can call 985-9339 or 985-4582.
