After having a neck fusion and a short stay in the hospital he made a strong recovery. Awed with his recovery Ted's doctors agked him to make several guest appearances at medical conferences. Another time he separated his shoulder «in. a bicycle accident. And despite the pain, he got back on the bike and pedalled to Sunnybrook Hospital! Being a bachelor he says his talents aren't high -in-the kitchen. Admitting that he eats out quite a bit, he tries to maintain a healthy diet, eating lots of fruit and salads.
