= 4 18 -- Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, May 9, 1995 Greenbank Restaurant features Korean food You don't have to drive to the city to enjoy the taste of traditional Kerean and Japanese cooking. In fact, if you can find your way to Greenbank on Highway 12, you'll find the recently opened Greenbank Restaurant. Open seven days a week, the restaurant offers the Japanese specialty of beef, chicken or salmon teriyaki, and tempura, a dish of deep-fried shrimp and vegetables served with rice and salad. The restaurant is operated by Jinny Chang, her husband Joung, her brother Tony and sister-in-law Miky Kwon, who ran her own restaurant in Korea for several years before coming to Canada recently. One traditional Korean dish on the menu is.bulgogi, thinly sliced beef in a special sauce of soya and garlic. Miso soup is very popular in both Korea and Japan and is reputed to be good for the thyroid as well. It's made from soya bean paste, tofu, Korean onions and Pacific seaweed. Jinny is a native of Korea who came to Toronto nearly 20 years ago. Although she has not worked in a restaurant, she always enjoyed cooking traditional dishes from her native country for her family. Jinny and her husband operated an art gallery in Toronto for about 12 years before deciding they "wanted to do something different."
