Miller had been serving as acting chief until council confirmed the appointment on Monday. His father Charlie was a 30- year volunteer firefighter retiring with the rank of deputy chief at what is now Station Two in Caegfarea. Miller, a life-long resident of Caesarea said one major issue for the department is to continue procedures to insure the safety of firefighters at any emergency scene. He said Station Two in Caesarea will need to hire some new recruits in the near future to bring the compliment up to full strength. As for Station One in Port Perry, he said the compliment of firefighters is where if should be now, but it. will be assessed this fall. Miller is employed as a course superintendent at the Crestwood Golf €lub north of Port Perry.
