Scugog Youth Soccer League action Under® » Raglan Welding vs. + Burketon General Store Burketon came up with a strong game with goals from Billy Mills, Michael Fisher, Adam Phillipe and a hat trick from Mat Morrison. Raglan rallied to pressure Burketon with some good offensive effort but was held scoreless. Final score was 6 0 for Burketon. Roger's Automotive vs. , Bank of Montreal Roger's downed Bank of Montreal with a score of 8-4. PSB Speakers. This past week saw the Porf Perry "Jynior"™ Merchants continue their winning streak, giving them 5 wins in the last 6 games. On Tuesday, the Markham Juniors visited Port and were snot in the game until the seventh inning. Port had gone ahead 5-1 going into the seventh, when three costly errors and timely hitting allowed Markham to score four runs and tie the game. This forced the game to go into extra innings. In the top of the eighth, Port quickly got three outs with a pop up to Venning at first, a strike out by Card, and ground-out from Laird to Venning. In the bottom: of the inning with two out, Card easily scored from second on a "Smart" RBI single to win the game. Card was the winning pitcher, striking out 14, walking 3, allowing 4 hits and only one earned run. On Thursday night, the Juniors visited Durham Fields to play the experienced Mickey Finns men's team. Port was leading 4-0 going into the sixth when Oshawa as allowed to score two unearned runs without getting a hit. The third out was a long fly ball caught at the fence by McBride to 'end the exasperating .inning. In the seventh, the Finns got » one. more run, but Port's tight defence shut them down and did not allow the Finns to continue the rally they thought they had begun in the sixth. Venning got the -win striking out one, allowing six walks, four hits, and one earned run. Even though the Juniors now have two more wins under their belts, there are some specific areas they will be working on-in preparation for the Eliminations. The team is beginning to feel positive about their chances for another sticcessful year, and are continuing to build a positive team spirit. Despite the incredible heat, all "the girls had a fine showing. In the Senior Girls division Laura Timms had a first in swimming, a 6th in running and a 2nd in riding to place 3rd.overall. In the Junior Girls division Dawn Dawson was 8th in swimming and 3rd in shooting. Andrea Smith, also a Junior; had a first in swimming, a 5th in shooting, a 7th in riding and a 2nd in running to finish first overall. First timer Caeli Fannos'won a 10th place ribbon for 'shooting in the Novice division. The Senior and Junior girls all qualified to go on to' the National Tepmthalon to be held later this sumer. In further Pony Club news, at the recent Show Jumping and CNE. qualifier, in the Intermediate division, Matthew Roy placed third, Trevor Morrison was 6th and Rodney Cudmore came away with an 8th place ribbon.
