He was 65. Ken was born on April 15, 1930 in Toronto, the only child of Louise (nee Mundy) and Llewellyn Davies. He went to high school in Toronto and went on to become a Journeyman Meter Tester with Scarborough Hydro. On July 18, 1953 Ken married Marion June Sylvester and they had four children. . Ken was a very loving. and caring person to his family and friends. He always had a smile and he lived life to the fullest. In his free time he enjoyed boating, going for walks, reading and puttering around the house and in his garage. A funeral service wastheld in the Wagg Funeral Home, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel" in Port Perry on Friday, May 26, 1995 at 10 AM with Reverend John Griffen officiating. Cremation followed. Pallbearers were Robert Davies, Jeffrey Davies, Rob Allen, Craig Jones, Colin Browne and Larry Read. Ken is survived by his wife Marion, his children Jeff Davies, Cindy Davies, Teresa Romain and Bob Davies and by "his grandchildren ach, Mathew, Evan, Myles, Travis, Djuna and Tyler. NORMAN DORWIN BIRKETT Norman Dorwin Birkett died peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 1995 at the Oshawa General Hospital. He was 84 years old. Norm was born on February 8, 1911 in Pickering to-Dora (nee Netherton) and John Birkett. He married Ruby Emmeline Manns on March 13, 1937, and together they had three children, Muriel, Murray and Ivan. Norm worked as a farmer and fittings employee until his retirement in 1976. In his younger years, Norm took an active part in the Raglan United Church. He was Sunday School Superintendent,sang in the church choir and was active in community work. He was a member of the 1.0.0.F., Beethoven Lodge in Brooklin 'where he held the position of Noble Grand and was a member of the Columbus Community Church. Norm enjoyed playing cards, camping and playing music for dances. A funeral service was held in the Wagg Funeral Home, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel" in Port Perry on Wednesday, July 5 at 1 PM with Reverend John Griffen officiating. Pall bearers were Douglas Manns, Gary Manns, Brian Manns, Ronald Manns, John Manns and Gordon Mahaffy. Burial was in Pine. Grove Cemetery in Prince Albert. Norm is survived by his wife Ruby, his children, Muriel and her husband Gary Tummonds of Oshawa, Murray and his wife Reta of Port Perry, and Ivan of 'Whitby; his grandchildren Karen, Larry, Judy and Joanne; his great grandchildren Brandon, Brent and Laura; and his sistets Bernice Kent and Electa Vance both 'of Port Perry. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Ray and his sisters Reta, Evelyn and Eileen. ROSS DONALD HUTCHINSON Ross Donald Hutchinson died peacefully after a lengthy illness on March 1, 1995 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Port Perry. He was 64. Ross was born on December 29, 1930 at the Picton Hospital in Picton, Ontario to Gladys (nee Mack) and Llewellyn Hutchinson. He had two brothers Nelson and Clifford and one sister Beulah. On August 18, 1950, Ross joined the Canadian Army (Special Forces) tosserve in the Korean War. He served with Princess Patricia's 2nd Battaliongnd was decorated with the Volunteer Service Medal, the Korea Combat Medal and the United Nations Medal. He was Honourably Released on December 31,1952. Ross married Marilyn Sheila Clark on April 28, 1956 at Wick Presbyterian Church. Ross worked as a mechanic for 33 years at Beare Motors in Port Perry. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 419 in "Port Perry where he served as 1st Vice President in 1971-72 and as Property Chairman for 18 years. He was also a member of the Korea Veterans Unit 11 in Oshawa. In his free time, Ross, enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, bowling and playing darts. A funeral service was held in the Wagg Funeral home, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel" in Port Perry on Saturday, March 4, 1995 with Reverend Robert LePage officiating. Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert. Ross is survived by his wife Marilyn, his brother Nelson of British Columbia, his sister Beulah and her husband Keith Smith of Thornbury, his aunt Kay Brown of Picton and Marilyn's parents David and Helen Clark of Uxbridge. LAURA BELLE LEE Laura Belle Lee passed on Thursday, May 18th 1995 at age 89. Laura was the daughter of the late William and Annie Thomas. She married Frank Lee on December 18, 1929 and was predecedsed by her husband on August 8, 1992. Laura was a lifelong resident of the Greenbank community, and keenly interested in the families of this area. She was a member of Greenbank United Church. Laura is survived by her family Murray and Shirley, Annabelle and Allan Ball, George and Isabel, and Beatrice and Ted Murphy. She is also survived by grand children Brian, Debbie, Mark, Howard and David and 10 great grand children. She was predeceased by one grandson, Gary and her brothers Russell and Henry Thomas. A funeral service was ho on Monday, May 22, 1995, at the Wagg Funeral Home, with the 'Rev. David Shepherd officiating. Interment was at Bethel Cemetery, Greenbank. Pallbearers were Brian Lee, Mark Roundell, Mark Lee, Howard Lee, David Ball and Rod Foster. BRUCE BRIGHT Bruce Bright was born March 1, 1917 at Raglan, Ont.., son of Olive and Willie Bright. He farmed as a young lad. A few years after his marriage Jan. «29, 1938 to Laurrena Graham, moved to Osawa, in 1941. Soon Bruce got hi call to serve overseas in WWII, convoying to different counties. In 1946 Bruce returned home. A car mechanic by trade, Bruce worked in later years for Ron Fawcett restoring antique cars, until his retirement in 1982. He had been in failing health for a number of years since, up to his death on Fri. May 19, 1995. Bruce is survived by his loving wife Laurrena (Graham) Bright of 57 yrs, one daughter.and 5 sons. Beverley & Mark Thompson, Kenneth & Laurie Bright, Donald & Donna Bright, Robert & Karen Bright, Neil & Judy Bright, Clare & Julie Bright. Also lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He leaves one brother Grant Bright of Port Perry. Predeceased by sister Dorothy Grills and brother W. Jack Bright. Pallbearer attendants were: Ken Bright Jr., David Bright, Michael Bright, Bill Jordan, Stan Dezan, John P. Craig and Reg Manns. ! Red Cross blood-appeal After a two-week urgent appeal for blood donors, the Red Cross Toronto Blood Centre has collected 8,253 donations, just short of its goal of 8,500. To avoid another critical blood shortage, more donors are needed on-a more regular basis. ~~ Since the urgent call for donors was announced on July 2, area hospitals have been sent 6,563 units of blood to help accident victims, cancer and leukemia patients, organ transplant recipient®, people with blood disorders and those undergoing major surgery. "The need for blood doesn't take a summer holiday. In fact, blood donations are more important than ever during this high accident season," says Glenn Manderson, director of blood donor recruitment. "We'd like to ask all those who responded during the last two weeks to donate just one more time each year." Healthy individuals age 17 to 70 can safely give the gift of life as often as six times a year (every 56 days). Donors are reminded to bring photo or signature identification.
