Pool artist Marta Gill What started out as a small green turtle on the bottom of a swimming pool turned into sharks, mermaids and several magical and mystical creatures from the deep for artist Marta Gill. Marta recently spent nearly 40 very hot hours painting the sea creatures on the walls and bottom of a neighbour's cement pool. "I was a little reluctant and apprehensive when first asked," Marta told the Citizen. But she plunged ahead when told the sea creatures need not be anatomically or scientifically "correct." Using special impervo paints, Marta had lots of encouragement and suggestions from the pool owners and their children, as well as her sister Nancy Turner, an interior designer from Toronto.
