The Kroonenbergs came to Canada from Holland in the 1950's. Both worked in the food business in their native country. Cathy said 25 years in business in Port Perry has posed some big challenges, but sure, they would do it all again. "We might take a few more chances," she said with a smile. Not only is September 1 'an important 25 year milestone for Emiel's Place, but as of that date son Gregg Kroonenberg takes over as full time manager. Cathy and Emiel are "stepping back" from the day to day operation of the business, but will continue to provide guidance and advice to Gregg.
