12, 1995 TZ wy 22 -- Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, Sep ITI Junior C MoJacks busy this week with four games The Port Perry MoJacks have a busy week of pre-season exhibition games that will give the coaches a chance to have a close look at the more than 40 players in training camp. As of Sunday night, there were 24 forwards, 11 defensemen and seven netminders looking for a spot on the 1995-96 roster of the Central Ontario Junior C Hockey Club. MoJacks first pre-season tilt is this Tuesday night (Sept. 12) when they host their long-time rivals Little Britain Merchants at the Scugog Arena with faceoff at 8:00 PM. This Thursday night; the Georgina Ice will be at the Scugog Arena for an 8:00 PM faceoff, and on Friday night, MoJacks will return the favour with a game in Georgina. The team wraps up this busy week of pre-season games on home ice Sunday night against Schomberg. Game time is 7:00 PM. "These pre-seasori games are going to determine a lot of things for the hockey club," said MoJack manager Murray Parliament. He agreed the team 1s looking for size and toughness up front on the wings, but said speed and the ability to put the puck in the net are very important as well. The MoJacks have a pumber of players from last year's roster back in camp looking for a spot in the line-up. They include goaltenders Rick Hutchinson and Chris Faulkner, blue liners Gavin Cochrane and Scott Heasman, and forwards, Mike Pigeau, Todd Dennis, Mike Stirling, Keith Leslie, Trevor Bremner, Ryan Ridgway, Jamie Moore, Kevin Vivian and Paul Kelly And there is a solid contingent of players from the Midget and Juvenile teams in Port Perry who have been performing well in scrimmages and stand a good chance of catching a spot on the club. The Central Junior C League will be without the Bowmanville Eagles this season (they moved to Junior A) Each team will play, 42 games, including a home and home series against three clubs from the Eastern League. , Every game will be crucial this season for the Central teams as just four of the six will qualify for post-season--a move League officials hope will make for' exciting hockey and bring more fans into the arenas. ModJacks will open the regular season on October 1 at the Scugog Arena when they tackle the Georgina Ice, a team they battied tooth and nail in a playoff series last year. Merchants hand Bullets big loss The Little Britain Merchants got their, pre-season exhibition schedule off to a positive start as they defeated the Bobcaygeon Bullets 9-2 Saturday night in a game played at the Woodville Community Centre Both teams were using this game to let the coaches have a good lodk at numerous rookies trying to crack the line-up' for the up-coming season in the Central Junior, C Hockey League. Merchants were in control of the game right from the opening faceoff as they built a comfortable 7-0 lead late in the second period before the Bullets were able to get a goal. : Merchants have several pre- season games left to help get the players in condition. On Tuesday night they are in Port Perry to take on the MoJacks and on Thursday (Sept. 14) will host the Junior A Lindsay Wolves at the Woodville Arena for an 8:30 face- off.
