It's a time when the Greenbank man shows his creativeness, transferring his three car garage into a dark maze of eerie sounds, witches, bats and other scary creatures related to Hallowe'en. Known as the Haunted Heights Hotel, John says "it's a time of year when you're allowed to be a kid again". "There's too mugh stress in our lives" he said. Owning four businesses and having a full-time job, he knows what stress is. "I defy anybody to be worried about any of théir personal problems during the three minutes it takes to walk through" he said. Everything you see on the three minute adventure has been*built and painted by John. "This is the only time I can create" John told the Citizen. On a daytime tour last week the results of his love and labour for Hallowe'en were awesome, "but nighttime it's WOW!" he laughed. Ready to take trick or treaters "through "the three-minute maze" of make believe" on Hallowe'en night, John is also going to have tours on Saturday night, October 28, from 6 to 10 p.m. There won't be a fee for admission, "but if it puts a smile on a face, maybe they'd like to give a donation" he said. Any donations will be given to the Uxbridge- Scugog Animal Shelter. When you arrive at 38 Ianson Greenbank potas dressed in costume will greet you at the entrance and escort you through the maze. ' After Hallowe'en everything will be packed away and the garage will be home again for the family's vehicles until next October. That's when John Kirk will likely put on another dazzling display, ' geared to put a smile on your face again. AIDS info Opening Doors is' a counselling initiative of the Ontario Ministry of Health. This year the AIDS Committee of Durhdm is working in partnership with the Durham Region Depart- ment of Health to explore the issues of HIV/AIDS support in rural areas. On Tuesday, November 21 from 4:00-8:00 p.m., staff from the AIDS: Committee of Durham and the Durham Region thoughts Health Department will be available at Scugog Memorial Library, to discuss any issues the community may have about HIV.
