It must, however, be understood that. development will come over time. In these hard proposed d Pp t to the West of Nestleton. Although I have never personally met Mr Lishman or his family, I do live in.the Nestleton area and feel obligated to air my view on this project. The only knowledge that I have of the past work of the Lishman's and their enterprises shows that the . ecology is extremely important in their dealings with the environment. After reading the open letter my faith in their motives is in no way shaken. I understand the wish of the Nestleton inhabitants to maintain a rural, Small ic times, with the high rate of unemployment and an increasing need for a 'higher tax base to maintain our community services, some development is required to help the local economy grow. They would then destroy our environment in the interest of a quick profit. It should also be considered that the use of environmentally friendly technology and sustainable energy sources is not a cheap undertaking and only the continued development of this technology through demand will make this eventually affordable to an attempt to force them to become more environmentally friendly pplaud and age a development that could be seen as the vanguard in the development of industry. Happy Birthday, November 20th, 1995 SHELLEY MALCOLM Love - Mom, Dad & Kevin The Corporation of the Township of Scugog BY-LAW NUMBER 13-95 BEING A BY-LAW TO AMEND BY-LAW NUMBER 32-88 to REGULATE TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAYS In THE TOWNSHIP of SCUGOG. WHEREAS it is deetned expedient to amend By-Law Number 32-88; NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF scuGoG enacts as follows: 1. That the provisions of his By-Law sxoaping hoes regulating stopping, parking and standing shall come Into full force and effect on the date it is passed by the ial proposals will be judged. I feel that our town council should endorse this proposal and allow the appropriate rezoning for this development. We can always make the rezoning sufficiently restrictive to assure that any development is limited to one that will encourage the use of environmentally friendly techniques. Let's put our community 'on the map as a town of which we can all be proud . I am sure that it would be much easier and cheaper for the Lishmans to locate to another area and build an industry in a conventional non environmentally friendly manner. Think about our children' ' future. Bernd Haertel,Nestleton d Council says no to break on taxes A request to have the interest rate charged on property tax arrears reduced to about six per cent fell on deaf ears in the council chambers Monday afternoon. Doug Wilson made the request for a piece of property. his company owns on the west side of the Oshawa Road, just south of Concession Four. The land, he said was bought some 20 years ago for housing development, but successive councils have turned down all his applications. ' Now, the property is in tax arrears for the last three years and Mr. Wilson suggested his company wants to set up a re-payment plan based on six per cent, rather than what the Township now charges. "There are a lot of un- paid taxes." We are trying to encourage people to pay them. That's why there is a 16 per cent interest charge," said Ward 1 rep Doug Moffatt. He also-told. Mr. Wilson that, when investing in land for development purposes, one should be prepared to win some and lose some. Council took action on the fequest by Mr. Wilson other, than to inform him that the interest rate on un-paid property taxes now stands at 1.25 per cent per month. Brock High School Music Dept.
