- 18 -- Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, December 5, 1995 = M&M Meats wins Award of Excellence M&M Meat Shops, headquartered in Kitchener, Ontario, has been voted the best franchisor in Canada and named winner of the 1995 Canadian Franchise Asseciation Award of Excellence by the Canadian Franchise Association and Royal Bank, sponsor of 'the award. "M & M Meat Shops is the first two-time winner of the Award of Excellence," said Doug Williamson, senior vice- president, Market Management for Royal Bank, in presenting the « award. He noted that M & M were the first franchisor to win when the award was first established in 1992. "The award symbolizes excellence and dedication to all the critical elements that have made the franchise concept such a success," Williamson said in making the presentation to Mac Voisin, president and chief executive officer of M & M Meat Shops at the Sixth Annual Canadian Franchise Association Convention. Established in Kitchener in 1980 as a retailer of frozen foods, M & M adopted the franchise concept a year later.
