Burketon artist Paul Livingston at Native Perspectives In Port Perry. Sense of peace in artist's work The work of Burketon artist Paul Livingston is at Native Perspectives on Queen Street in Port Perry. Paul was at the store over the weekend to meet customers and talk about his work. He works with watercolours and acrylic in his paintings and with pyrography applied to wood sculpture and uniquely crafted personal and home accessories. While stating that his work has progressed beyond that of a nature or landscape artist, there is no doubt he has an acute sensitivity to the spirit of the natural world and the way a person can relate to it. "I find renewal when creating my wildlife and landscape images. People often tell me that my work has 'hope.' That's good because my hope is that people will see the sense of peace I'm describing with my art." A graduate of the Ontario College of Art (1971) Paul worked over 20 years as an art director/illustrator in advertising and sales promotion. These days with his wife Patricia, he provides a custom art and gift service to a growing number of clients with diverse tastes. He is versatile in both style and media, which allows him to fill most art requirements. I try to choose carefully between the movies that are available and what I had previously done and what Mr. Foot has already written about in the "other" paper. He got to all the good ones before me. He likely would have appreciated the arti of this film. I just didn't [ike the way it was made. Everyone else has said it is quite good. What they liked the most about it was the fact that it is done in real time. Meaning that Johnny had 1-1/2 hours to do the nasty deed and the actual film itself was 1-1/2. Johnny and his daughter were getting off a train when they were spotted by two "police" (not) and told to follow them to their car. Daughter in back, Johnny in front. Johnny is whacked around a little but has to keep a stiff upper lip for his daughter. He is dazed and confused. These officers explain what they want him for. They are looking for a stranger who will kill the California Senator before 1:30 p.m. Christopher shows him the picture, gives him directions to the hotel and hands him the gun he is to use. <It doesn't make any sense, yet they know that he will anything to save his only daughter that has just become motherless after the death of Johnny's wife. Sob, sob. He has 1- 1/2 to do the job or they will blow his daugliter's head off, great story so far eh? (stinks) Johnny must decide between the life of the Senator that he's been told to kill or the life of his only child. MMMMMm what will he do? Everyone is involved in this scam right to the very top, who can he trust? You guessed it, the one legged, deaf shoeshine man, who is trying to raise his five kids on his salary of shiny shoes. The only weapon he has is his wooden leg that can handle even the worst bullets. This was the worst. All my friends tell me not to tell them about the movies because I say too much (surprise) and it ruins the fun for them, but this time I'm trying to save you all the trouble of going and telling it all right here. The direction was so odd. The camera angles were confusing and if I had to look at another clock shot I was going to scream. The only good thing I could say about it was thank God it was only 1-1/2. It's also a "good idea to put out some warm water in a dark dish. Although there are several types of feeders on the market today, you may prefer to make one yourself. A simple one that you can make at home is a pine-cone feeder. First, wrap a piece of string or yarn around the top of a pine cone. Next, coat the cone thoroughly with suet or lard (you can also roll it in birdseed to make a tasty mixture). Finally, tie the string to a high branch or clothes- line where cats and dogs can't reach it. Remember to check the feeder every two or three days to ensure that it still has food in it. You'll get hours of enjoyment watching "3 birds flock to your feeder on a crisp winter day -- just when you thought all wildlife had disappeared until spring!
