The Owls, formed in 1972, are pretty much like any other recreational hockey team, except all members are legally blind. Dave Ballingall, of the Scugog Fire Department, is working to. set .this special game up and said there will be a few rule "modifications" for the benefit of the Owls. A larger puck will be used, the goal will be lowered to three feet and the Owls will be allowed an 18" grace on off-sides at the blue line. "This will be a fun game and it will give residents of the area a unique opportunity to see the visually impaired play this sport."
