Mr. Kay said the July 1 exhibition will be promoted as part of the festivities in the community for Canada Day, which includes the evening fireworks at the lakefront. The game will be played at 2:00 PM at the Water Street north diamond. Council agreed to a request from Mr. Kay to close Water Street from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM that , day so that temporary bleachers can be can be placed along Water Street at the north diamond. It will be quite an afternoon for local fastball fans who will see the cream of the crop of Canada's top players including legendary pitcher Darren Zack, Oshawa"s Chris Jones and Larry Smith, Grafton native Marty Kernaghan (an All World Player) and Dave Hoffman of Oshawa. Scugog councillors gave | their blessing to the plans for this world class exhibition of fastball which will be a welcome part of + the Port Perry's Canada Day celebrations in, 1996. Free throw for All boys and girls ages 10-14 from local schools have been .invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 1996 Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Competition. The local competition will be held on Thursday, January 25th, 1996 at 7:00 P.M. in the Immaculate Conception School Gym. The Free Throw Competition is sponsored annually by the Knights of Columbus with winners pi ssing through local, Rintict, competition. International champions are announced by the Knights of , Columbus International and regional ' 'young hoopsters Headquarters based on scores \ from Provincial/State competitions. All boys and girls 10-14 years old are eligible to participate and will compete in respective age divisions. All contestants on the local level are recognized for their participation in this event. The Knights of Columbus is an 'International Catholic, Family, Fraternal, Service Organization with over 1.5 million members in more than 10,000 local councils. Last year Knights donated 43,3 million manhours and $94 million to charitable and benevolent causes.
