Belleville énds The Port Perry Canadian Tire Midget B Islanders had their season come to an 'end on the weekend at the hands of the Belleville Bobcats. After a lopsided loss to Belleville in the first game of the series the Islanders came back to give Belleville all'that they could handle largely due to the goaltending duo of Doug Short and Brian Bickmore who were both outstanding in the teams last two games of the season. Doug Short got-ghe start for the Islanders in the second game and although he faced a lot of rubber he held his team in giving them the chance to even the series up. This was not to be however as with the score at 3-2 for Belleville and time running out on the, Islanders they pulled their goalie to go for the, equalizer but it didn't pay off ab Belleville found the empty net to make it a 4-2 final, - Pe Scoring for the Islanders were Aaron Levy and Matt § Phillipg with help from Chris Drury, Ashley Van Shelvan and Mike Morden. Even though the Islanders lost this game it seemed to inspire them a bit as they realized that just maybe season for the Isles' they could beat this Belleville team. The next night it was back to the Cowpalace in Belleville where the Islanders were faced with a do or die situation. The excitement was in the air, the peanuts were flowing in the stands and the Islanders were ready. Belleville got on the board first in thé opening frame and it remained this way largely due to the fine goaltending of Brian Bickmore until late in the third period. The Islanders were growing in confidence and really started'to put a lot of pressure on Belleville XL girls strike gold! "We are the champions,..my friends".
