The games Sunday were the final playoff matches to decide the champions. The first teams to play were the Harrison. Flames and the Monsma Chargers. The Flames jumped the gup in the first period and with Bruce Smiti# shooting they scored. their first two goals with assists from Bill Bridge and Willy Edwards. Then Willy Edwards scored for,a third with Bob Beveridge and Bruce Smith assisting. Finally in the top of the third period Mike Geer of the Chargers managed to score one goal with assists from John Robertson and Steve Churchill. The next two goals scored were by the | Flames' Bob Beveridge who was assisted by Willy Edwards and Bryce Smith, and by Bill Bridge who was assisted by Jim Beatty and John Vaz. The final store was 5 - 1 for the Harrison Flames the champs of the "D" Division. The MVPs of this game . were Ken Harman (goalie), Bruce Smith (defence), and Willy Edwards (forward). Game two Was a closer game . between the Compton Comets and the Fitzgerald Clippew for the "C" Division. The first goal was scored in the last seconds of the first period by Steve Connors with assists from Mike McQuade and Bill Weisflock. Jim Park of the Clippers followed seconds later with ag unassisted goal. The next two goals were by the Comets, the first'by Mike McQuade and Steve Connors, and the second by Bill Foote and Mike McQuade. The Comets "who was assisted by Mark took the win for the "C" Division thanks to the team. and its MVPs Richard Huggins (goalie), | Rick Campbell (Clippers defence), and ,Steve Connors (forward), Game three was for the "E" Division, better known as the "Toilet Bowl" which was played between the Taylor Aces and the Ball- Callery Senators. The Aces scored the first two goals with, goals by Ken Little, assisted by Mark Jobb and Sean Fewer, and by Mark Jobb who was assisted by. Richie LeFort and Ken Little. Then in the second period the Senators scored 'their only two goals scored by Rob Evans with an assist from Mark Decosta, and by Mark Decosta who was assisted by Ken Jeffrey. The final two goals were scored by Richie LeFort Jobb, and by Mark Jobb who was assisted by Steve Dunn. The Aces beat the Senators for the "E" Division game? The MVPs of the game were Doug MacSween (goalie), Rob Evans (Senators' defense), Mark Jobb (forward). Game four was without a doubt the longest hockey game I've ever watched. The Pineridge Wolves and the Van & Tuck World Shatks went into double over-time and it wasn't' until the fifth period that they finally -ended the game. Dave Dickson was the first to score for the Sharks with assists from Brad Menzies and Carl Durward. Then Clarence' Stephenson scared for the Wolves with assists to Reg Templeman and Ron Zaparanuik. Next came goal by Chris Asselstine for the Sharks : assisted by Dave Dickson and Brad Menzies. Larry Pilkey took the next two goals for the Wolves with assists by Dave Jackson, Ken Davison,and Ron Zaparanuik. The final goal for the Sharks was scored by Chris Asselstine 'with assistance from Brad Menzies and Dave Dickson. The fin%l1 goal was scored by Larry Pilkey in the top of the fifth period with assists from Wayne Norton and Ken 'Smart Jr. The "B" Division MVPs were: Bob Strickert (goalie), Carl Durward (defense), and Larry Pilkey (forward). The final game of the day, "A" Division was played by the J & D Hawks and the Pizza Delight Roosters. The Hawks took who was, first two scored by John Mackey, th first unassisted, and the second assisted by Keijo Kinnunen. Then Gary Lance scored the third goal unassisted. Finally the Roosters scored their only goal with" John Harman shooting and Carl Durham and Tony + Oxley assisting. The final goal was shat by Joe Currans of the Hawks and assisted by John Mackey. The Hawks defeated the Roosters 4 - 1 for the' "A" « Division title. The MVPs of this game were Ray Gibson (goalie), Alan Sibbald (defense), and John Mackey (forward). « . Larry, who passed away earlier this year, was a long-tifme player = In thig'jeague and the MVP Award will be 'made annually. in his name. Other Individual awards went to Keljo Kinnunen for Sportsmanship ai Dedication to the Game and the League; Bill Bridge for Leading Scorer with 54 points and Ken Harman as the top goalle with a sparkling 1.57 goals against' average per game. Jt took a double-overtime before the Wolves Larry Pilkey gave his team a 4-3 win with a perfect wrist shot inside the goal post. The Sharks' Dave Dickson will no doubt remember this one forever as he had numerous chances to win It for his team. The Hawks took full advantage of their scoring opportunities and shut down the Roosters with a solid defensive effort.
