'around Southern 'Borelians capture Ontario theatre re Saturday, April 13 was the culmination of yet another season, of. community theatre as thespians/from ntario gathered for the awards 'gala hosted by ACTCO (Association of Community Theatre Central Ont.) - an annual celebration of excellence in community theatre. A fun night was had by all 18 members of the Borelians who attended but especially by those who were rewarded for their efforts. Local director Dave Ellis was honoured by being one of 3 nominees for "Best Director Of A Comedy" for the recent production of "7 Stories". (Dave Has already won 2 THEA awards for directing in the "Drama" and "Musical" categories so this nomination was certainly a credit to his versatility.) Opening time has been moved up to 1:00 p.m. and Seniors will be admitted free of charge from opening until 5:00 p.m. Seminars planmed will be of interest to the senior's groups and they will run from 1:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. They will deal with tax planning, lifestyle living, birds and an information session by Wagg Funeral Home. This sold out show will take place at Town Hall 1873 on May 11th at 8:00 pm. ' On Sunday May 12th, at 2:00, Paul Arculus, local historian, will conduct a walking tour of historic Port Perry. The tour will take about an hour and a" half and will start from the Town Hall 'on Queen Street. Historical and architectural highlights of the town will be featured as you make your way mainly around Peter Perry's town - the area" between the lakefront. and Town Hall 1873. There will be a brief digression to the more elaborate residential areas, i.e. Cochrane Street. CHS Band heads for Washington Following a very successful, sold out, fundraisigg dinner on March 30, the Cartwright High School Senior Concert Band, in an effort to say thank you to all its supporters, offered a free concert in the gym at Cartwright Central Public School. -, The concert featured a wide variety of pieces, many of which will be performed by the band while in Washington from May 2-5. The band would like to ' thank all those who supported their fundraiser on March 30. The evening was the culmination of many efforts by 'many people, including our numerous sponsors, demonstrating once again Blackstock's community spirit.
