Aerobathon for Heart and Stroke Fund Michele Valentino of Port Perry has been an aerobics instructor for the past several years and currently teaches 16 classes each week. She is planning an aerobathon for June 2 at the "Scugag Community Centre to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Durham Region. " "We are hoping to see 100" people - out (for the aerobathon) and we would be very happy to see 150," she told the Citizen last week. Along with her long time interest in aerobics, Michele has a personal reason for raising money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Her Dad Michael suffered a serious stroke when he 50 and three years later passed 'away from heart disease. That was ten years ago and now Michele feels it is time for her to raise money for research and public education into the disease that kills more Canadians than any other single_ cause. But she stresses that the June 2 aerobathon is ~ planned as "fun event" for men and women (ages 14 and up) "If you have never done aerobics, there's no reason to feel intimidated. This will not be a class, but a fund-raiser. We hope everyone will wear something with a heart on it and have some fun," she said. \ There will be special prizes such as hats, sweat shirts and gym bags, and the Port Perry IGA will provide refreshments for those in the three sets of 45 minutes sessions (with a 15 minute refreshment break between each set). The'Outback Cloggers of Scugog will perform prior to the first aerobics set everyone in the moo: moving. Pledge forms are now available at local stores get for displaying the Heart and, Stroke posters. All participants will be asked to contribute a minimum of $10 in pledges payhble at the door. | Everything gets underway at 1:00 PM June 2 at the Scugog Centre. It will be a great way to have some fun with aerobics and make a positive contribution to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, which is solidly backing this event.
