It was. the most successful . week so far this season for the Gamblers as just four of the six teams in the Peterborough City League will be eligible for post season play. Peterborough ICG has a firm hold on first place, but the rest of the teams are bunched in a tight race. : The three game win streak started July 15 in Greenbank as Mark Goreski threw a six-hitter to lead the team to a 2-1 win over Moore Auto, with just one,a point *. separating these teams in the Flames over Gators in ball hockey action "In Port Perry Ball Hockey League action last Wednesday evening at the Scugog Arena, the IGA Flames defeated the \Gators 7-5 as Paul Beare, Rick Cormier and Ken Harman clicked ith a pair of goals each. Bill Foote added a i With assists notched by Greg Lance with three, Ken Harman and Ritchie LeFort with two each and one to Jarrett Harman, Greg Fed and Cormier. Goreski got his third start in four nights on July 18 in Peterborough as the Gamblers met Moore Auto again. He ran out of gas and was relieved by John Logeman who threw the last five innings. > With the game tied 1-1 in the 4th, Gambler bats came to life and jumped into a 4-1 lead. Mark Goreski, Paul Goreski, Brian Till and Don Beaton all hit safely in the up-rising. But the Moore club was not dead yet and fought back for two in the sixth. The potential tying run was thrown out at the plate as Mark Goreski un-leased a perfect throw from centre field and broth- er Paul made the tag at the plate. Mark may have faltered on the mound, but he turned in an out- standing game in the field with his game saving throw and he tagged a towering home run and a long double off the left field fence, proving there is more than one way 10 win a game. Dug to players on holiday and short-stop Greg Warriner being ejected from the game by an over- zealous umpire, the Gamblers were forced to press coach Ken Goreski into service in right field. He responded with a single at the plate and a great catch in the field.
