I find recipes that have been passed from one person to another always-taste better. Maybe because when your ASK for a recipe, you really want it. You've tasted if, and "you know you want to try it' out. Gtound Cardamofft 1/4 cup Plain , Low-fat Yogurt 31sp. Fresh Lime Juice 1/2 tsp Curry Powder 2 tbsp. Vinegar 1/4 18p. Turmeric 8 thin slices of Onion 1/4 1p. Dry Mustard 4 small Tomatoes, halved Cut each chicken breast into 16 squares. Combine yogurt with seasonings, lime juice and vinegar. Marinate the chicken cubes in this mixture in a medium bowl in the refrigerator for 2 hours, Thread onto skewers 2 chicken cubes, an onion slice, 2 mere chicken cubes and a tomato half. Repeat until all ingredients are used. Barbeque on low fo medium feat on a skewer stand, rotating occasionally and basting with marinade until €hicken is done. Ever since we moved into the Citizen office at 36 Water St., Kim has gone out of her way to make us feel at home. She owns 'the store next door to uss Kountry Bulk and Delicatessen. Actually, Kim used to oper- . ate her business right here in our office, but she moved next * door because her business was growing and she needed more space The best thing about being neighbours with Kim is the wonderful smells which waft our*way whenever Kim or d in raw foods from Ewa' who also works hard at Kountry Bulk, starts cooking cabbage rolls and other unique European dishes. Of course, Kim cooks up more than just cabbage rolls. The other day she was working ona mouthwatering carrot cake, in the shape of Bugs Bunny. We were really tempt- ed to just dig in, but I don't think Kim would have: appreci- ated it, | They're good neighbours, Kim and Ewa. Just last Saturday, my partner Valeri¢ Ellis was working away when Ewa showed up: with a whologe fire of homemade cheese- cake. I wish I could tell you how , great it 'was. But Valerie wouldn't share. (Okay, okay...I better explain that I wasn't there to try it, otherwise, I'm in big trouble.) Recently, to "she shared with us the recipe for her Carrot Cake, which she used make this wonderful Bugs Bunny creation. We CARROT CAKE. 1 cup Sugar 11/3 tsp Cinnamon 1 cup Oil - 1/2 tsp Salt 3 Eggs 1.1/3 cup Flour 1.1/3 tsp Soda 4 0z. Walnuts, chopped 1 1/3 tsp Baking Powder 2 cups Carrots, grated Mix together sugar, oil and eggs. Add soda, baking powder, cinnamon, salt and flour. Fold in chopped walnuts and grated carrots.
