Tuck; Opt., Eyesight Specialist- PAY FOR VISION NOT BLINDNESS God gave us the different senses, the one we now think of here is sight. If we squander these. indiscriminately in the interest of industrial progress we are justified in stopping to think of who will suffer most for our neglect. Should our vision go below a certain percentage of efficiency how many are waiting for our job, and if we step down to be replaced by another, what happens to our last visual efficiency, This is a personal matter, perhaps we can win it back or pay to develop it again but it is a personal matter. Learn now to be selfish in the pro- tection of these talents of ours and that it pays us first and others after- wards to protect their efficiency. Where your visual efficiency is con: cerned it pays to buy health not sick- and not inefficiency. proved that diseases that once plagued our childhood are not easily curbed. It may be possible then to nurse to life many cases that in the dim for- gotten past would have been impos« sible to save. P DELIGHTS "AND INSPIRES PORT PERRY AND GREEN- BANK AUDIENCES. Rev. Dr. Thornton, late of St. ing message on the Four-fold life to a large and appreciative aud- jence in Port = Perry United Church, on Sunday evening, April 8th, Dr. Thornton, interested ! work, made a strong appeal -in behalf of youth and pleaded for lines Christ-centered and Church-centered. The boy of good mentality taking 12th place in a class of thirteen was not living up to the challenge of. Jesus who "in- creased in wisdom" and such a boy could not rightly call him- self Christian. p The boy underdeveloped phy- gically because of self-indul- gence and bad: habits, was not patterning life after Him who "increased in stature." In the matter of worship Dr. Thornton struck the high note of his address. = With telling passion he proclaimed the zero point in worship is when the minister says "Let us Pray" and too many Sunday School devo- who is intensely | tional programmie§ are "lessons in irreverence". Those who "in- crease in favor with God" are mindful and alert when God is being supplicated in prayer and sought in worship. ; Young people love worship and Bible study when properly con- ducted and all make a mistake and cast reflection on 'youth when we assume that all must compromise in matters spiritual. Even in social contacts, where youth grows in favor of man, Dr. Thornton pleaded for the higher note, the pervading of all life with the spirit of our great Example. X x Of fine voice and radiant pre- sence , fired with spiritual pas- sion, Dr. Thornton takes old truth .and makes it live until the audience sees and feels its spiritual splendor. 3 On Tuesday, April 10th, the Y.
