About 76 people were present and ice cream and cake were the refreshments. A splendid program was presented and all report a good time. A Baptismal service was held and Helen Adelaide Veitch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Veitch; and Annie Joyce MacGregor, infant daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Wm, MacGregor, were presented for Baptism. This was followed by a reception sic at which two young ladies: weredreceived into full mem- bership. The Sacramental service followed in which over 60 persons par- ticipated. The juvenile quartette sang two pieces; also the juvenile trio. The entire musical arrangements were in charge of the young people conducted by Miss Mildred Croxall, assisted by the Bethesda Oréhestra. On Thursday, July 12th, a large number attended the celebration held in Port Hope "Fifty years ago the usual celebration of the 'Glorious "Twelfth, was held at Williamsburg. (Blackstock.) ~~ Manvers, Cartwright and Darlington Lodges took part also the Ballyduff, Cartwright and Oshawa Fife and Drum Bands." 'Mr. and Mrs. Sandy Dawson and Miss Mabel Argue are holidaying at Wasago Beach. : Mrs. M. Scobell of Peterboro has re- turned home after a visit with Mrs. Ira Argue and Mrs. E, Darcy. Mr. and Mrs. Benson Dunn and Ione of Oshawa spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. O. Wright and Mr. and Mrs. G. Forder. was held in the Community Park, Blackstock, on Saturday, July 14th, when 126 relatives met to spend the day in a happy re-union. At noon 70 sat down to dinner in the community hall, after which a pleasant time was spent in re-calling old times and visit- ing interesting places in the village, one of which was the public school with its happy memories of boyhood and girlhood days. During the afternoon sports were engaged in. The results of the races are as follows: Potato race, Wilma Van Camp; Peanut Scramble, Ernie Werry, Jack Mark; Girls and boys 6 and under, Jean Werry; girls and boys, 7 and 8, Jack Mark; girls under 18, Grace Houton; young men, Harold Swain; Needle race, Susie VanCamp and Harold Swain; ball game between single and married men, the score being 16-8 in favor of the marridd men. After supper a which 125 sat down, interesting 'speeches were given by Rev. Mr. Bell, Dr. C. E. Whittaker, Mr. Wm. Swain, and Dr, Birchard. A discussion was also held on the Swain ancestors dating back four generation when they first left Ireland. Members of the family were present from Cavanville, Peterboro, Mariposa, Lindsay, Toronto and | Montreal. Those coming the farthest were Mr, and Mrs. Wm. Swain and Mr. and Mrs. Herb Swain from Grandview, Man, in whose honor the picnic was held and Dr, Birchard from Montreal. On Sunday evening bb of the Swain Family met again and had tea on the spacious lawn of Mr. and Mrs, Wm, VanCamp. Mr. and Mrs. Dickie, Moncton, N.B,, Mrs. E, H, Coates and family of Dun- barton visited with their sister, Mrs, John Carter on Friday last. "The tenth annual re-union of the Beacock clan was held in the Com- munity Park, Blackstock, on Saturday, July 7th, About 80 .guests arrived around the noon hour and enjoyed a dainty dinner served by five Black- stock ladies, in the Community Hall. After dinner the friends retired to the park where they enjoyed a full afternoon of races.and ball games during which time prizes were pre- sented to the winners, Mr. Abram Bea- cock of Bowmanville received first prize for being the oldest gentleman present and Mrs. Jane Nicholson of Pontypool for the oldest lady. About five o'clock "the supper call was heard and everyone journeyed back to the hall where they were greeted by the sight of tables laden to their utmost capacity prepared by the waitresses in their capable manner, About 176 took supper, after which the president called on Rev. Geo, Bea- cock, Mr. W. C. Ferguson, Rev. Lee Beacock, Mr, Wm. Beacock and Mrs. Hockridge for a few Temarks. A business meeting was held and the same officers were re-elected. Pres., Mr. W. B. Ferguson; Secretary, Mrs. M. E. Wilson; Treasurer, Mrs. Cecil Hill. It was decided to hold the next session at Blackstock, July 6th, 1935. Mr. Allan Aldred is spending a few holidays with relatives in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. C. Heayn, Jimmie and Douglas, visited her father, Mr. John Milner, on Sunday. Mr, T. Graham has purchased Mr. O. Williams' farm and Mr, Williams and son Harold have moved to Whitby. We wish them every success in their new home. Mr. Graham is having the buildings repaired. This will make a beautiful home with all the maple trees surrounding the house. ; Mr. Milton Demara spent Sunday with his friend Mr. Glen Hood. Mrs. Isaac Rodman and her sister 'Miss R.
