The offer is made on the condition that a fixed assessment is granted by the Corporation, {If a fixed assessment is not given, the sale cannot be completed. ~The owners will then be faced with the necessity of selling the machinery and wrecking the building in order to pre- vent accumulating taxes. Archie Crosier was the rich uncle, Virginia Nasmith the lovely daughter, and Frederick Cawker, the| unfortunate son. : The entertainment which was' given on two evenings included vocal solos by Reta Willard and violin solos by Malcolm Nasmith. On Friday even- ing Miss Enid Wallace gave the Vale- dictory address. The whole program was a distinct credit to all those who took part and to the teachers who trained the students--Miss L. Spooner, Miss L. M. Harris and Miss Lillian Greenbank. Mr. R. G. Gemmell, the principal, presided. Buy Spode Dinnerware, life- time durability, at Bentley's. Meeting A very inspiring and interesting meeting of the W. M. S. was held in the United Church S. S. Room on Wednesday, December 12, The president, Mrs, Farmer, oc> cupied the chair, and Mrs. Dix's group had charge of the program. Mrs. Dix read the Christmas story from the Scriptures and Mrs. Farmer led in prayer. The slate of officers for 1936 was read by Mrs. Gemmell and voted upon. Mrs. Farmer, as retiring president, made a short address, touching briefly upon the two years of her presidency and wishing all success to the new officers. The program presented under Mrs. Dix's leadership, was in the form of a little play entitled "The Fifth Ray". It proved to be both interesting and instructive, and was enjoyed by all." At the close of the meeting all were invited to remain and enjoy a pleasant half-hour while tea was sérved by the ladies of the group in charge. Over forty people, including a few gentlemen, were present. A free-will Christmas offering of $62.00 was con. tributed during the meeting. Following is the list of officers for 1936. Hon. Presidents--Mrs. Rose and Mrs. Bell. Past President--Mrs. Farmer. President--Mrs. Jackson. 1st Vice-President--Mrs. Stone. 2nd Vice-President--Mrs, Geo. Davey. Recording Sec.--Mrs, Christy. Cor. Beare and Mrs. Stone, was so much enjoyed at the W. M, S, meeting, that by request the ladies repeated it on Tuesday night of this week at the Young People's meeting. The base- ment of the -church was well filled with young people and older people also, who much appreciated the play. 'The Fifth Ray" was composed by a friend of Mrs. Dix, Miss Juanita C. Foster of Chicago. It teaches that to truly give, is to give not only of our goods, but of ourselves in personal in- terest and service. Mrs. Dix hopes to be able to secure another of Miss Foster's plays in the near future. OED CARD OF THANKS The undersigned wish to express sincere thanks for the sympathy and kindly deeds of friends and neighbours at the time of the death of Isaac Mec- Millan, and to the "Army and Navy Veterans" for their floral tributes. The fixed assessment shall cease when ever the said busi- ness ceases to be carried on. ----, THE YOUNG MEN'S BIBLE CLASS The lesson for last Sunday was "Jesus as a Teacher." The point for emphasis was, he always taught truth. The part of Scripture that was dealt with--"If any man shall hear my words and obey them, he shall be like as man who built his house on a rock. But if any man shall hear my words and obey them not, he is like the man who built his house on sand." These words can easily be vouched for as true sayings, by any one who might be the least bit observant. The evil and good points of capital- ism were discussed with considerable interest in the forum. Next Sunday we meet in open ses- sion with the whole Sunday School, where Robert Harris, the President of the class will give the address.
