Rose celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary; and on the same day Mr. Rose celebated his eighty-second birthday. Both Mr. and Mrs. Rose are enjoying fairly good health. An even more remarkable anniver- sary was that of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Willard, who on Wednesday of this week celebrated the sixty-ninth an- niversary of their wedding. Both the bride and groom are well and happy.| They both take a keen interest in public affairs. The other day when we called on them, Mr. Willard had just finished listening to President Roosevelt's inaugral speech. We wish all the parties concerned in these anniversaries much happiness. CHURCH OF THE ASCENSION ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Church of the Ascersion was held on Monday evening in the Parish Hall. Owing to the slippery condition of the roads and sidewalks, only a few were present. But the reports presented by. the Wardens and different organizations were most encouraging. That of the Wardens' was very cheering. Every obligation had been met, and amounts contributed to missions and other branches of the church's work were larger than usual. The organzations all showed in their reports a year of steady work and sacrificial givirg. The following were elected as Church officers for the coming year: Rector's Warden, Dr. Lundy; People's Warden, Mr, Hutcheson, Vestry Clark, Miss Alexander, Lay delegate to Synod, Dr. Lundy, with Mr. W. Wilson as sub- stitute, Votes of thanks were passed to all concerned in effecting these happy results, After a prayer of thanksgiving for the Divine Blessing during the past "year and the benediction the meeting adjourned. $1.-JOHN'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH = Rev. Kent yielded to a gen- erous impulse and made glad the heart of the Library Board by con- tributing about forty volumes from his library. This is a gift that is very thoughtful on his part and much appreciated by the recipients but more so by the reading public. Among them are a number of juvenile vol- umes that will do a good work' for we are rather short of this class and it is one that is hard to fill. We notice one among. them by Rev. Egerton Young who we recall was once stationed among the Indians. We -hope some of our other friends 'will take a run through their shelves and see if they cannot find some really good volumes that they can spare, they will feel that they are sharing their pleasure with many worthy read- ers through this medium who are not so fortunate as to own a well stocked library.
