This extract from a letter to Mr. Wm. Jackson, from Mrs. Eva Hall of Francis, Sask., tells of the matter. "Andy Campbell is dead. He was 86 years of age. He had been living with his nephew, Archie Campbell, out at Duval, 60 miles north of Regina. Gangrene set in, and they flew him to Regina hospital in an airplane. They were just 26 minutes making -he..died - shortly after, and was buried on Feburary 28, 1937." The late Andy Campbell was one of the best known citizens of Port Perry| for a number of years. .In the early days before the death of his sister he could he heard at almost anytime of the (-7 cheerfully whistling at his work in his millwright and carpenter shop, which was situated next to what is now. the bowling green. In later years! he took .to playing -the violin}. for his amusement, and to the enjoy- ment at times of the townfolk, who house contenedly "fiddling". He was a good workman, and at one time carried on quite a business in the making of "horses" for the sewing of harness. In the death of Andy Campbell 'there has "passed one of those pie- turesque figures that grew up in the daye when life had fewer fashions, and was less standardized. EL I MP A rare voice has Betsy. You have always attended our services and| meetings when not prevented by eir- cumstances which you could not con- trol and sometimes we knew it was by sacrificial effort you were present and in dep love of the church and its work, You hava, displayed an unfailing cheeriness of spirit that has been help- ful to your associates, and through years when sickness and sorrow press- ed heavily upon you, you courageously faced your problems and took your part In the life of the neighborhood. We will remember you tdo, Will, for your neighborliness and your friendly helpfulness whenever help has been needed. And you, Mr. Varcoe, for your inspiring presence ard helpful- ness in our congregation. Time works its relentless changes, but friendship lives on; that beautiful tie that links kindred hearts indis- solubly, While we shall miss you much in our neighborhood life, we will not let your removal sever this pre- cious bond, As a token of this deep and abiding regard we have for all of you and wish to be perpetuated .we ask you to accept these gifts from hoping that when you look upon them, you will think kindly of us, as we al- ways shall of you; and in as much as your new home is not far from us, we hope that you may frequently visit us in our homes and church. And with| this expression of our €steem goes also our sincere: wish that you may enjoy health, happiness and the best blessings of life in all future days.
